Summer 2014

More flights than ever before - the 2014 summer season begins

The 2014 summer season has begun today and will run until October 25 with the national carriers of the former Yugoslavia promising a busy summer ahead. Low cost airline Wizz Air, with its bases in Skopje and Belgrade, will also operate a notable amount of flights.

Adria Airways will operate 180 scheduled weekly flights, with 159 of them originating from Ljubljana, towards nineteen destinations. From its base in Pristina the airline will operate eleven weekly flights (excluding its service to Ljubljana) as well as six weekly flights from Munich to Lodz in Poland and four weekly services from Tirana to Frankfurt. The Slovenian carrier will inaugurate flights from Ljubljana to Prague and Warsaw and will also operate seasonal flights to London Gatwick and Tel Aviv. During the summer season, charter flights operated by Adria in conjunction with travel agents will connect Ljubljana with numerous holiday destinations, above all in the Mediterranean. The Slovenian carrier will fly weekly from Ljubljana to the following destinations in Greece: Heraklion, Thessaloniki, Rhodes, Kos, Samos, Santorini, Karpathos, Kefalonia, Zakynthos, Skiathos, Lesbos and Lefkada/Preveza. There will also be flights to Palma de Mallorca in Spain, Antalya in Turkey and Sharm el Sheikh and Hurghada in Egypt. This summer Adria is again planning to operate charters from Trieste to the Greek islands.

Air Serbia plans to operate one of its busiest summers in years. The airline will launch services to Beirut, Budapest, Kiev, Sofia, Varna and Warsaw. The Serbian carrier will endorse its new look summer schedule with a promotional flight to Budapest on April 1, to be operated by the Airbus A319. Air Serbia will also resume seasonal summer flights to Dubrovnik, Split, Malta and Monastir. The airline plans to operate 700 charter flights this summer, carrying some 87.500 passengers on services to Greece, Turkey, Egypt, Spain and Italy.

Croatia Airlines will introduce new flights from its bases outside of Zagreb. The airline will launch services from Dubrovnik to Amsterdam and from Split to Athens. The carrier will also resume a handful of seasonal flights including those from Zagreb to Athens, Barcelona, Brač and Tel Aviv, from Dubrovnik to Athens, Berlin, Dusseldorf and Venice and from Split to Belgrade, London Gatwick, Lyon and Vienna. In cooperation with Trade Air, Croatia Airlines will offer a one weekly commuter service with the routing Osijek-Zagreb-Rijeka-Split-Dubrovnik-Rijeka.

Montenegro Airlines will introduce a new seasonal service from Podgorica to Dusseldorf this summer and resume seasonal flights from Tivat to London Gatwick. Furthermore, the carrier will strengthen its operations out of Tivat with additional frequencies on almost all its flights out of the city. On the other hand, B&H Airlines won’t be adding new flights this summer season.

Wizz Air is also planning a major expansion in the former Yugoslavia this summer as Skopje becomes its largest base. The airline will launch new flights from the Macedonian capital to Beauvais, Hahn, Cologne and Charleroi. It will bring the total number of destinations served out of Skopje to fourteen. From its Belgrade base, the no frills airline will launch new flights to Larnaca in Cyprus and resume summer services to Sandefjrod in Norway. The airline will maintain its existing operations from Charleroi and London Luton to Ljubljana, from Gothenburg, Malmo and Basel to Tuzla and seasonal flights from London Luton to Split.

Did I miss something but have Pegasus and Lot revised their Belgrade schedules? Both depart Belgrade at around 17.00, that was not the case before.

  2. Tomorrow will be a great day at Belgrade airport. Air Serbia launches both Sofia and Budapest while easyJet inaugurates its Rome-Belgrade flights. Let's hope they have more success than Wizz Air did.

    3. Actually, I was tripping, Sofia and Budapest started today.
Yeah, Wizz Air's flights to Larnaca have forced Air Serbia to sell tickets for as little as €160. <3

      I agree, it's amazing.

Ex Yu there is a typo in the banner. It should say ''Updated daily!'' not ''Updated daly!''

What do you mean? To where? Belgrade? Double daily to Zurich and then three weekly to Geneva?

Yep ZRH double daily and GVA on days 135

Awesome :) Now they can make GVA a daily, too (ideally in the evening). Also, it would be great if they moved morning flights on 5 and 7 to evening. Does anyone know O&D vs transit pax split on LX flights to BEG?

  8. I don't think anyone noticed the schedule readjustment on Etihad Regional/ Darwin GVA-BEG route: it will operate on days 2,4,7 instead of 2,4,6 AND the flights will arrive along with the noonish wave of JUs flights at 12.30 and then depart along with JUs afternoon wave Around 17.00, therefore it's obviously done for connecting opportunities. Awesome work and cooperation! It would be also brilliant to use the aircraft for extra capacity on some regional route, but maybe in time they will start doing so.

    2. Quite possible.
It would be an awesome addition. 3 weekly on a 50-seater is even better possibility in the beginning, and if the route proves as a success they can use ATR in the future and/or increase it to daily.

  11. Today (31.3.) there will be 72 passenger flights and 2 cargo flights out of BEG. I don't think that has ever happened in March before.

Great day for trolls! They posted so much crap here that I wanted to systematically debunk every single one of their lies, but then I remembered “Please don’t feed the trolls” motto and decided it would be better to let them enjoy their hallucinations for a day.
When dust settles, EC will find no major issues with Air Serbia deal but it will take some time (and unnecessary consultant’s fees). Insiders already know Air Serbia is effectively controlled by industry best practices through professional management team including some consultants for hire, not by government or foreign investors. If it happens that Lufthansa aligns its interests with its major alliance partners and are also following same industry best practices as for example alliance partner United, does that imply Lufthansa is effectively controlled by United?
We live in a very litigious world and Lufthansa is just going with the flow. However when it’s all over they will have to realize protectionist bureaucracy and lawsuits (and even cost cutting measures alone) don’t create profits, creative and agile management that produces world class product does (ask Airbus if you don’t believe me). Even if there was no Etihad at all, Lufthansa management is currently impotent in response to Emirates, Qatar and especially Turkish, and EC is no Viagra to solve this problem. Mark my words.
