Air Serbia’s charter brand takes off

Aviolet operated by Air Serbia launches flights

The Serbian national carrier has launched its very own charter brand, Aviolet, this morning. The Aviolet brand name, operated by Air Serbia, will utilise three Boeing 737-300s and will be used on charter services to Greece, Turkey, Spain, Italy and Egypt. The first flight with the new look Boeing 737 took off this morning from Belgrade to Antalya in Turkey. The Aviolet brand will be operated by Air Serbia but will be exclusively used for charter services. It will feature a more leisure oriented product and a relaxed approach to passengers, as illustrated by the blue top / black pants casual uniforms worn by its cabin crew.

The Aviolet branded B737s feature an all economy class cabin with the capacity to seat 144 passengers. Travellers will be offered a complementary snack bag with a sandwich, bottled water and a fruit bar. In addition, passengers will be able to buy extra drinks and snacks from its on board Sky Café. Furthermore, Aviolet will offer duty free products by Dufry such as cigarettes, spirits and perfumes for purchase on board as part of its Sky Shop service. Payments for both the bar and duty free service is cash only in euros and Serbian dinars. Air Serbia’s charter brand also provides dedicated check in desks at Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport’s Terminal 1. An Aviolet website has also been set up.

Aviolet’s baggage policy remains unchanged to that of Air Serbia. A passenger can check in one piece of hold luggage not exceeding 23 kilograms and a single piece of hand luggage weighing eight kilograms or less free of charge. Aviolet becomes the only dedicated charter brand operated by a national carrier from the former Yugoslavia. During the 1970s and 1980s, JAT Yugoslav Airlines ran charter flights under the Air Yugoslavia name.

    5. As a Croatian I am proud that Croatia has done as much as possible to help in Bosnia and Serbia but I would like to say I have no problem with the banner because the situation in Bosnia and Serbia is catastrophic where in Croatia its just tragic.

I too donated money to the Croatian red cross for all the affected areas and although it is nice when people appreciate this, it is not the reason why I did it.

Also, Croatia has a very bright future with nothing but the peoples attitude preventing the country from moving forward and when they start extracting oil from the Adriatic, well, than it will be OU buying Middle Eastern airlines :) but, for Serbia and Bosnia who are economically struggling already to then have this situation to deal with.... major kick in the nuts.

      Delete
    7. "econ projections" You mean possible environmental impacts?

None which don't already exist. Italy already has over 200 oil and gas rigs fully operational on their side of the Adriatic alone so if any of those fail....,and I don't think any are visible from the coast.

Also, apparently the Croatian side of the Adriatic has both shallower ocean and easier geological access than the Italian side making it more efficient and safer.

Remember though that the floods affected Croatia last, and that this button was put up before then. I remember going on HRT to see if anything was going on in Croatia. All I could find were reports about Serbian and Bosnian flooding, in the "Svijet" section. Which is laughable; as if the floods were in Australia or something, and not from rivers that could easily flood Croatia as well (as they eventually did). And furthermore to me it demonstrates the ever-present efforts of Croatian officialdom to distance the country from the region it is in (i.e. the Balkans), which is quite laughable and sad.

Anonymous 6:46 PM, we have a stupid prime minister, and a slow government, it has nothing to do with "ever-present efforts" bla bla... On HRT there is EU section, and Svijet section... Neither Serbia nor Bosnia are EU members, so, yes, you belong to Svijet section, but it doesn't mean that people in Croatia are not worried about flood affected areas in Serbia and Bosnia, it was top news in Croatia when it started and we are still collecting money, clothes and food for all three countries affected. My brother works in Ina (Industrija nafte) and they're collecting food and clothes to send to Serbia, many of them have friends in Serbia.

      @9A-CRO

Man, you're pathetic and your reaction is an insult to those who really suffered and perished in those floods in both Serbia and Bosnia (no deaths in Croatia that i heard of).

If you was so preoccupied in helping people as you say, you would know that those funds are ten times more needed in Serbia and Bosnia than Croatia (which can apply for EU help more easily anyway). Your reaction is selfish and ethnocentric. The events in those two countries had cataclysmic proportions, nothing comparable to what Croatia had experienced. So, if a few drops of water fell on Austria, Hungary, Romania, maybe we should also include them in the list and ask for help? Man - get REAL! Croatia wasn't included in the list in the first place and rightly so. Stop telling the mod what to do. He was kind enough to tolerate your childish outcry and include Croatia eventually, all while ruining the design of the sticker because of you (the only solution now being to simply write "Help the Ex-Yu states" instead of all the countries separately).

This is just unbelievable. You always feel yourself "damaged" (maybe you really are?) and "in need for attention". No matter whether it's about: articles on this blog, historical recognition and now flood relief. I don't know why do you feel so unimportant all the time that you're seeking for recognition in very wrong ways - maybe it's an inherent question you should ask to yourself.

Name, design, just everything leaving the impression as they had 5 minutes to decide and then gave it to some 14 year old to make some samples on his laptop. Name could have been Aeroput in remembrance of the first airline in Serbia.

A comment to the Croat user regarding flood relief button. True, Croatia is not mentioned, but the effect in Serbia and Bosnia is more then 100 times bigger with millions affected and really land-shape-scraping effect, while in Croatia "just" 4-5 villages are flooded (sad enough). Secondly, the Serbian government and it's organizations and many people individually thanked the Croats for their support and help and this is published everywhere and is honest. Serbia is suffering a billion € damage, it is simply not possible to send money or equipment to Croatia- please understand!

It is not correct to say damage in Serbia and Bosnia is hundred times larger. You are over-exaggerating: Serbia evacuated 32,000 people from flooded area, Bosnia-Herzegovina 25,000 people, Croatia 16,000 people. It is true that all three countries need help. Please refrain from incompetent posts on delicate topics.

      Delete
    2. Anonymous11:29

I am really sorry, you can't compare on the scale of numbers of evacuated people. Please have a look how many larger cities in Serbia have been devastated like Cuprija, Jagodina, Valjevo, Obrenovac, Svilajnac, Smedervska Palanka, areas of Sabac, in Bosnia Doboj, Bijeljina, Tuzla area...... and in Croatia: the largest place is Gunja with some 5000 people the rest very small villages. The land area in Serbia and Bosnia by m2 affected also is by far much larger then in Croatia. That's why all eyes are on Bosnia and Serbia due to a NATIONAL catastrophe, while in Croatia it is a LOCAL event!! As I said, I feel sorry for the Croats affected, by they will receive enough help from non-affected regions in Croatia while in Serbia more or less it is a national catastrophe on scale of a tsunami!

  13. zoran14:11

Saying about names has no sense at all. For charter flights is is only important to be cheap, reliable and well packed transfer. No branding name at all. Livery also means nothing, and I do not know why is that matter to most of bloggers. Besides bigger fuel consumption, 144 configuration may give some profit to the YU, but also cut expediences of storing old birds. I'm positive that YU does not mean to develop charter company with this planes, but to use them until they're safe and productive.

The perfect name would have been SunSerbia!

    ReplyDelete
  20. SunSerbia is a really good idea. It reminds me of SunCountry Airlines... That has always been a funky name for an airline. Perhaps, if the charter services remain a viable part of JU business, they will consider rebranding and some proper investment... but we are far away from that point.

I wanted to share something. It was waiting for baggage the other day at BEG and I saw really poor baggage handling on transfer luggage. It seems that there were approx 30-40 pieces of luggage in the baggage pick up zone noone knew what to do with, mostly connecting between Moscow, Rome and Podgorica, all clearly labeled as transfer and priority... yet one poor chap (AirSerbia ground staff) was left with all of them and just collecting them arround. I pitty all those people waiting for their luggage at their final destinations. I hope Air Serbia will upgrade their ground handling ASAP, this was one sorry sight.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Anonymous22:49

Just for your info - transfer luggage does not arrive in to the arrival hall at all. Transfer luggage is sorted upon arrival and send directly to departure flight.
That can be only rush luggage from the previous stations or luggage which missed their connection due to very short MCT and that could not be only Air Serbia's luggage - all carriers transport other airlines' rush luggage which need to be locally cleared/forwarded by Air Serbia or ANT lost and found office.
The contributing factor could be local infrastructure which cannot cope with peaks.
