  1. Beautiful, Watch the haters going to say it so plain! but these guys just started the business since 2013 and it a big step they taken. So don,t expect high fancy crap around the plane like etihad, emirates or Qater also Singapore. Just shut up and let them work on the passengers, from then they can improve the product over-time. No business at first time becomes the best. It takes time.

Problems with the IFE are generally easy to fix, the solution to fixing the problem depends on the system and the will of the crew to do so, as well as company procedure in acting upon such issues. My previous experience is that crew when asked will be happy to reset the IFE screen to ensure it works.

As for the seats, airlines are always finding ways to reduce costs, which unfortunately means the seats are getting thinner to save on weight (and fuel).

My mobile was out of battery and I needed it when I land so I thought they might have some USB ports at the back. Asked the crew and she told me it's under the seat. Point being, take a long USB chord with you if you want to connect it while using it at the same time.

All widebody planes with seatback touchscreen IFE should be immediately grounded around the world until solution is found for your problem. Or you can just stop flying if that bothers you.

So far they are all cancelled, first one to start June, 26th now as far as I can see. Also all flight times and days of operations changed but remain 2x weekly. Fleet shortage or crew shortage or else? The OS flights are all packed since weeks, as far as i read here.

Back up for the A332 is EY A345 in AUH.

Btw, line maintenance will be done by Air Serbia Tehnika in BEG. Mechanics and engineers have received training for the type, received tools, equipment and spare parts. EY will do line maintenance in JFK and base maintenance in AUH. A checks will be done by AZ in FCO.

Highly unlikely. The least they could do is revert to Cyrillic alphabet in their in-flight magazine.

      Delete
    2. JATBEGMEL20:59

I think they should use the Cyrillic alphabet as well, being the national airline of Serbia. They spend a lot on promoting Serbia, they could at least place signage in the national alphabet.

Maybe theyre using the latin letters so as other customers from the ex-YU could understand as well.

      Delete
    3. Anonymous21:47

Well they could have had both. Rven Etihad has Arabic writing on their aircraft.

      Delete
    4. QR92121:51

That is very stupid because many customers in the region and beyond, which are far more numerous, are accustomed to Cyrillic alphabet: Bulgarians, Macedonians, Russians, Ukrainians and last but not least - Serbs, the home market for that matter. No one's gonna tell me that Croatia and Slovenia have a much larger market for Air Serbia. After all, even if they did, it is a question of self-respect. ME3 FA's still wear the headscarf and they're among the top airlines in the world.

      Delete
    5. JATBEGMEL01:59

      @ anonymous 9,47pm

Arabic is one of the most spoken languages on the planet as being an official language of the UN. The ME3 have hundreds of flights over the Middle East and North Africa where Arabic is the official language. Arabic doesn't have a standard transliteration like Serbian has.

      @ QR921

Bulgarian, Ukrainian and Russian Cyrillic letters vary. Serbian, Bosnian, Croatian are the same languages and we can generally tell even from what region the speaker is coming from. This cannot be said for the above countries. The other languages are not the same, and having something written in Cyrillic doesn't mean the person will understand better.

EY don't have the head scarf in their uniforms. EK and QR do so as to discreetly reflect the local culture through their uniforms. In EK, the scarf with the hat has been part of the uniform from Day 1, and is quite recognizable as part of the EK brand.

JU has roughly 120 flights per week in the ex-YU region, 13 to Bulgaria, 6 to Ukraine and 17 to Russia. Croatia alone is 32 p/w. In Serbia we use both alphabets.

However, JU focuses a lot on branding Serbia in its image, a small thing could be the use of the Serbian Cyrillic alphabet which is where I agree.

      Delete
    6. Anonymous09:32

I don't agree with you on this one. Out of those 120 flights half are to Montenegro which is also an Orthodox country with a Cyrillic tradition. Half of Bosnia is also Serbian. Bottom line, you need to respect yourself first. The use of Latin in a smaller font alongside Cyrillic could be another option. Air Serbia has much more flights to Western Europe than to the "region" yet it didn't incorporate French or German despite them being much more affluent markets. Therefore, no need to lower yourself down to please a market that is only in your head and product of some sick yugo-nostalgia that goes in parallel with Serbian identity denial. My 2 cents.

      Delete
    7. Anonymous18:38

You are wrong about this. It is true that Cyrillic has a longer history and that it is a script specially made for Slavic languages. We should be proud about it and do everything reasonable to use it as often as possible. But Latin is also a Serbian script. It would be very unwise to renounce everything that was printed in Latin in the last 70 years, that rightly belongs to the Serbian literature and language, just to underline differences with our closest neighbors. Latin was used used by Ancient Romans for centuries in what is now Serbia, so it is even more ours than usually acknowledged. I am proud on both scripts.
