PHOTOS: Air Transat launches Zagreb

NEWS FLASH

Canada's Air Transat launched flights from Toronto to Zagreb yesterday evening (local time), with its Airbus A330-300 aircraft landing in the Croatian capital at midday today. The new service will operate once per week, on a seasonal summer basis, until October 4.  According to Transat's Commercial Director, Nicole Bursey, the service been well-received by travellers. “For a new program, it’s been going amazing”, Ms Bursey said. She added, “It’s performing better than most new programs for the first year and I think it’s because there’s a pent-up demand and the value is so good”. Transat's Business Development Representative, Susan Kooiman, noted that the airline currently offers eight packages plus one coach tour, including the self-drive Discover Croatia (with an itinerary encompassing the country’s main tourist attractions) and the Zagreb, Split and Dubrovnik package. In addition, Transat offers a number of a la carte hotels in Croatia, including those in cities such as Dubrovnik where Transat does not currently fly to. “We’ve learned with consumers that people are asking for something different, so we’re delivering it”, Ms Kooiman said. Further flight details can be found here.

338 out of 345 possible, literally flight was full. Not sure someone was saying the aircraft sent to Zagreb has 375 seats, that is not correct, aircraft used on Zagreb flights will have 345 seats, not 375.

108 passengers flew to Canada on a return trip, mostly Croats visiting Canada for a brake of family and friends.

LOL. So even the launch flight couldn't get more than the A332.

    4. the difference in pax capacity is minimal (345 vs. 375 seats). TS will most likely use A333 later on in the season.

338 pax out f 345, I wonder how many will be on AS flight to NYC? 200?

338 is very respectable amount of passengers per single flight. Only Korean Air and JAL get more passengers per flights to Zagreb, and these aren't as regular as Air Transat is.
