Emirates: No plans for EX-YU flights

NEWS FLASH

Emirates has reiterated it currently has no plans to directly serve any cities in the former Yugoslavia. Speaking at a recent event organised by the Austro British Chamber, the airline's Area Manager for Austria, Slovakia, Serbia, Slovenia, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro and Bosnia & Herzegovina, Martin Gross, said, "We have very close cooperation with Flydubai for the Serbian, Slovenian and Croatian markets which are also managed by us here in Vienna. Flydubai is expanding and operates to Belgrade, Skopje and Sarajevo. Although all major cities have potential to be included in the Emirates network, there are currently no specific plans for this", Mr Gross said. Speaking to EX-YU Aviation News last month, the Area Manager noted that Serbia and Slovenia are the strongest selling markets for Emirates within the former Yugoslavia.

EK has just 388 and 77W left, both are too large yet for our market, considering yearround ops

I wonder how this cooperation with flydubai actually works. Each time I looked for flights on EK's website it gave me an option via some European city, usually through Vienna or Istanbul.

How long ago did he say this? Obviously there cannot be any cooperation with Flydubai for the Slovenian and Croation market at the moment and currently no expansion there :/

It is recent because he does not mention Zagreb as a destination operated by Fly Dubai. These flights ended only 2 weeks ago. Also, Emirates have GSAs in Zagreb and Ljubljana which also serve as Fly Dubai GSAs.

Momentarily, there is no promotional activity for Flydubai in Slovenia, also Emirates GSA in Slovenia stopped everything, they even deleted Facebook page Flydubai Slovenija.
And, he is stating that they have close cooperation WITH Flydubai FOR Slovenian market. I do not get it.

I'm a born skeptic but I do agree with you... pax and cargo would work for EY on 330/787... always full
