Air Serbia sees passenger growth


Air Serbia has seen its passenger numbers grow with the airline handling its 2.55 millionth passenger in 2016 yesterday, surpassing its end-of-year result from 2015. The carrier says it is "on track to deliver another successive year of strong operational growth". The improved numbers were attributed to the launch of five new routes in 2016, with Air Serbia expanding its network to 44 destinations. This included the introduction of its transatlantic service to New York, as well as flights to Hamburg, Kiev, Ohrid and St Petersburg. The 2.55 millionth passenger, Biljana Stanivuković, was presented with two return economy class tickets to any destination on Air Serbia’s short-haul network after checking in for a flight from Belgrade to London Heathrow.

Air Serbia's CEO, Dane Kondić, said he expects for the airline to handle a further several thousand passengers by year's end. "We are delighted to have already carried 2.55 million passengers this year, breaking the record achieved for the full year of 2015. Our traffic growth has been driven by the expansion of our network in Europe and to North America, and it is especially pleasing to see both our new and established routes performing well", Mr Kondić said. He added. “We are now in the middle of the winter holidays, one of the busiest travel periods of the year, and will carry thousands more guests to and from Belgrade before we wrap up 2016. Sustainable growth has always been at the forefront of our business development strategy at Air Serbia and we will continue to focus on fulfilling this mandate as we enter the new year”.


The Serbian carrier has cemented its position as the busiest airline from the former Yugoslavia in 2016. According to a report by Belgrade Airport for the first three quarters of the year, the carrier's most popular destinations were Zurich, Paris, Podgorica, Tivat and Moscow, with the number of operated flights increasing 1.7% during the nine-month period. Speaking earlier this week, the President and CEO of the Etihad Aviation Group, James, Hogan, said, "With twenty aircraft, 500 weekly flights and 2.5 million passengers, Air Serbia is a leading boutique airline in Europe. This year we reached the strategic milestone of being the only airline from Southeast Europe to fly to the US. What matters even more is that Air Serbia is profitable and contributes to ever greater revenue from inbound tourism".

      What are you talking about ? They cut their W15/16 capacity by almost 20%. If it wasn't for them launching 5 new routes over the summer, they would have ended the year with no growth in capacity. To achieve any growth in passenger numbers with almost flat capacity growth, is quite a good effort - especially when you consider what external factors affected them - especially over the summer with the terrorist attacks in Belgium and Turkey.

      Still, passenger numbers mean nothing - just look at Montenegro Airlines - they continue to lose money hand over fist, yet grow their passenger numbers by discounting.

      The only thing that matters, is whether they are profitable and we will need to wait for some time to see that.

      To jesu loši rezultati.

      Sedam mjeseci kompanija ima jedan A330 više, pola godine imala je i jedan CRJ-900 više u floti. Znači kapaciteti su se bitno povečali, a broj putnika neznatno.

      To što netko reže linije i frekvencije u jednom dijelu godine govori da je imao loš poslovni model i da mu je velik dio kapaciteta (aviona, posada) ležao nezaposlen, tj. donosio gubitak. Koliko ružičaste naučale moraš imati da rezanje linija i frekvencija u dijelu godine možeš nazvati razlogom da rezultat proglasiš dobrim?

      Mozda su im rezultati malo bolji ali ogromni problemi I dalje ostaju. U firmi se svi do jednog nadaju da Danetu ugovor nece biti produzen. Njegova reputacija je stigla I do samog etihada.

      Nije tacno da je CRJ-900 u floti pola godine, nego 3,5 meseci.
      Prvih 4 meseca ASL je imala smanjen broj letova u odnosu na prva 4 meseca 2015 godine. Takodje treba napomenuti osetni pad carter letova u 2016 godini!

      Komentari protiv Kondica su bez argumenata. Ne verujem da su ih pisali zaposlenici ASL, vec ljudi sa strane koji prizeljkuju propast ASL.
      Svi bi voleli da na njegovom mestu vide nekog partijskog aparatcika, posto po njima nista u Srbiji ne moze biti dobro. Relativni uspeh ASL dovodi u pitanje njihove stereotipe i iritira ih.

      Kondic je napravio ustede prosle zime da bi pripremio ASL za JFK i ogromne pocetne troskove koji sa tim idu.
      Prema svemu sto vidimo ASL ide bolje nego sto su ocekivali (a ocekivali su 2 godine gubitaka zbog JFK).
      Protiv Kucka bar citamo konkretne zamerke i to potpisane imenom i prezimenom.

      Nije problem u Kondiću nego u Etihadovom sistemu "oporavka" poduzeća koja su bila na rubu bankrota (tj. još malo dalje), a preuzeo ih je Etihad u nadi da će ih čudotvorno preobraziti. Isti obrazac vidimo i kod Air Berlina, i kod Alitalije, i kod Darwina:

      1. Prvo nagla ekspanzija, bitno više aviona, linija, code-share sa Etihadom i ostalima u grupi.

      2. Kada to ne uspije ogromna rezanja (Darwin 90% flote i radnika, Air Berlin 50% flote i radnika uključujući NIKI i Bellair, Alitalija za sada 15%), kako flote, tako i radnika, linija...

      3. U sve to vrijeme glavni prioritet je Etihadov profit (oni i dalje naplačuju velike troškove školovanja posada, lizinga, managementa, održavanja, usluga poput planiranja, prodaje, operacija i dr. što se radi za kompanije u Abu Dhabiu...). Oni na tim poslovima izgubiti neće.

      Dakle, nije problem u Danetu, on samo provodi politiku firme koje je zaposlenik. A to nije Air Serbia nego Etihad koji uslugu njegove plaće (i drugih iz top managementa) naplačuje Air Serbiji kroz fakture.

      Itekako nije istina da je Aviolet ove godine imao manje putnika na charteru, vec je imao oko 9.000 putnika vise ili +8%. Sve brojke u prethodnom komentaru su izmisljene. Npr., tokom 2016. godine Aviolet uopste nije leteo za Egipat. Takodje, letovi za Maltu su potpuno redovni letovi i njih nije obavljao Aviolet. Evo preciznih podataka :

      Sure, but the precipitous fall of the flights to Egypt and Turkey had very very very little to do with the company itself. If anything, they reacted well and managed to substantially increase the ops to other destinations like Greece and Spain to utilize the fleet.

      Actually Anonymous it is true that CRJ 900 was in JU from June till September, 3 and half months.

      But it is also true that there was bigger capacity with 86 seats plane for 3 and half months and A330 with 254 seats for 7 months.

      Da, bilo je povecanje kapacitete sedista, ali u istom kontekstu treba da se kaze, da je u prvih cetiri meseci godine bilo u prodaji manji broj sedista u odnosu na 2015 g.. Da nije bilo toga, prica o kojoj neki tu pricaju bi imala realnu osnovu, tako ne.

      Tocno, ali to nikako nije agrument kojim se može branit kompanija. Imat prizemljene kapacitete i ne koristit ih je dokaz lošeg vođenja kompanije.

      Kad je Croatia smanjila flotu za jedan avion 2012. i broj putnika to je bio loš potez. I jest.

      Kad je Air Serbia smanjila broj putnika uz istu flotu onda je to još lošiji potez.

      Dakle, upravo to dokazuje da se kompanija loše vodi.

      Sa istom flotom su u prvih 5 mjeseci osjetno smanjili broj putnika. Potom su ozbiljno povečali broj sjedala, a broj putnika je svejedno zanemarivo povečan.

      Apsolutno se slazem sa poslednjim anonimusom, dajte ljudi malo gledajte svoja posla ili ako vec kritikujete neka to bude konstruktivna kritika!

      Pratim ovaj sajt vec godinu dana i ono sto sam uocio je da toliko ljudi lupa ovde gluposti i izigrava dezurne hejtere ASL a niko od vas da se javi ili da napise nesto protiv ASL kada su odlozili let za JFK skoro 20h jer su imali problema sa motorima! Niko da se javi za to ili da napise a zasto? Zato sto ovde niko nije spomenuo pa niste imali sansu da hejtujete. Desilo se dana 12.11. Kada su svi putnici trebali da lete u 12:55h i na kraju su odleteli tek sutradan u 08:00h ujutru zato molim vas ili se pokrijte usima ili konstruktivnu kritiku dajte a ne rekla kazala, ne valjaju zbog ovog ili onog!

      Ako je bitno povećan kapacitet, a broj putnika neznatno onda bi LF morao biti lošiji, ili je LF dobar, ali je dio flote prizemljen, što donosi gubitke. I u jednom i u drugom slučaju yield je nizak, tj. gubitak velik.

    Air Serbia ima veliki napredak. Samo kad se uporedi poslovanje pre preduzimanja Etihada i sad je velika razlika. Avioni doterani u red, Vise ne kasni po 2 3 sata skoro svaki let. Usluga dobra, Web Checkin itd. Ponosan sam i kad god imam priliku letim sa Air Serbia. Poz

      Obojica ste u pravu, ali ne govorite o istom:Jat je bio katastrofa i trebalo ga je ugasiti. Air Serbia je bolja od njega kao kompanija, iako su I njeni finansijskI rezultati upitni. JAT je bio, za ono vreme, pojam, I nesto sto danasnje ex-yu kompanijice nikada nece biti. U vremenu 1980-1990 poslovao je trzisno, sa profitom, bez ikakve pomoci drzave, a ja sam ponosan sto sam bio deo tog i takvog JAT-a. BTW, jos uvek radim u avijaciji, sada za AF-KL

    Iz pocetka krenulo se u dobrom pravcu no potom je doslo do kontre u strategiji (ako se ona moze tako nazvati. Za putnika je stanje jos i zadovoljavajuce ali je ocigledno da se nivo servisa srozao i da ide sve vise u pravcu LCC. Ko god hoce da osporava moze ali kasnjenja su i dalje prisutna, manja su pojedinacno ali su precesta i to zato sto se nije objektivno napravio red letenja uzevsi u obzir trajanje leta, guzve na pojedinim aerodromima kao i samo zadrzavanje za zemlji. Iz mojih petnestak polazaka ove godine 3 su bila tacno na vreme a ostalo sve u okviru +/-30-40 min i to je cinjenica a za mene to nije = 90% letova je bilo na vreme! Kabinsko osoblje je najbolja komponenta i svaka im cast na radu i trudu! Moglo bi jos da se napise dosta toga ali dacu sebi pravo da postavim kratki zakljucak ... za malu i nikakvu / slabu Srbiju Air Srbija jos i odlicno funkcionise!... pozdrav svima

      Avion nije voz ili autobus.

      Vreme poletanja na karti i vreme stvarnog poletanja se razlikuju kod svake kompanije. Na vecim aerodromima razlika je obicno do 20 minuta. To nije kasnjenje.
      Kada nema guzve i svi se ukrcaju ranije, desava se da poletanje bude prema vremenu sa karte. To nije poletanje na vreme. To je poletanje pre vremena.

      Jedino sto je bitno je da li je avion sleteo na vreme +/- 15 minuta.
      U avio idustriji se to racuna "na vreme".

      To ne vazi samo za Air Serbiu, vec i za sve druge kompanije.

      Iako bi to trebalo da bude osnovno znanje, anon. 12.08 insistira na vremenu polaska.

      Anon. 12.08 je verovatno dobronamerno pokusao da barem u necemu da za pravo kriticarima Air Serbie. Da bi obezbedio neku navodnu "objektivnost".

      Ono sto on mozda ne razume je da njih argumenti ne interesuju. Oni su svoj sud doneli i pre nego sto je kompanija osnovana.

      Istina nije na sredini. Posebno se ne smeju iskrivljavati cinjenice da bi se posto-poto isterala sredina. Takva sredina ostaje laz.

      ODLICNI REZULTATI I OGROMAN USPEH bill bi povecanje broja putnika od 10 ili bar 5 procenata, sto ovde nikako nije slucaj, jer je povecanje 2 procenta, uz 2 aviona vise u spicu sezone, od kojih 1 velikog kapaciteta - dakle rezultati su objektivno slabiji a ne bolji. A o profitabilnosti koja bi se trebala podrazumevati bolje necemo, jer ni tu nista nije ni odlicno ni ogromno, vec naprotiv

    Time to recap 2016 and look at 2017 for Air Serbia and BEG. Highlight: Flights to New York and wide body in fleet. Potential new destinations exist but fleet must grow, as proven by CRJ900 during summer. Second A330 is most likely postponed for 2018. Regional acquisition did not materialize and there is no indication planes will be based outside of BEG. Other than hints of new passenger fees, there does not seem to be a drive to transition the airline into aggressive, sustainable answer to growing LCC threat. Fleet outlook is 25-26 planes in the next 5-10 years. Very mild growth means no new terminal at Belgrade airport, with likely concession to serve primarily as cash injection for government coffers without major airport infrastructure investments for a while. On the bright side, Air Serbia will continue to incrementally improve fundamentals.
