TUI considering Brač base

NEWS FLASH

German tour operator, the TUI Group, is interested in opening an airline base at Brač Airpoer next year. The General Manager of Brač Airport, Tonči Peović, said, "TUI will have a small base in Brač. This is a logical step because of the situation in Africa and Turkey, as well as Croatia's growing tourism industry. TUI has interest in such a move". He added, "TUI already invests a lot in Croatia and sees great potential in our coast. They see Brač Airport as a partner in those plans". The TUI Group owns and operates TUIfly Belgium, Netherlands and Deutschland, as well as Thomson Airways from the UK, TUIfly Nordic from Sweden and Corsair International from France. TUIfly Belgium will launch services to Brač this summer season. The airport recently completed work on extending its runway, allowing it to handle larger aircraft. "This year we anticipate our passenger numbers to double to 30.000. This figure should double again next year. Brač Airport is undergoing a major expansion and few airports in the region can boast of such robust growth", Mr Peović concluded.

This would be awesome. Even if it's just a seasonal base for 1 plane. Amazing for both Brač and Hvar!

I assume it will just be a base for charters so you won't be able to book tickets through a website but only via travel agencies. But maybe they open a part of the seats to be sold publicly...

Possible destinations could inlcude TUIfly and Thompson main bases such as Lon Luton, Hanover, Munich, Stutgart, Stockholm Arlanda, Oslo Gardermoen, Amsterdam, Brussels

Btw, Crossair and Corsair are different airlines. The latter is currently still TUI owned but it is up for sale since 2015.
