Air Serbia joins TSA Precheck

NEWS FLASH

Air Serbia passengers flying between Belgrade and New York will now be eligible for the United States' Transportation Security Administration’s expedited screening program called Precheck. The advantage to Precheck is that in exchange for travellers providing personal information about themselves, they can leave laptops and small containers of liquids in their carry-on bags, and leave their shoes and belts on through the metal detector at US airports. The program costs $85 for five years. Applicants must provide some biographical information, pass a background check and provide fingerprints. Air Serbia joins 51 other local and international airlines that take part in the program. Precheck is available at 200 airports in the States, with over five million participants. The Precheck expansion comes as the TSA tightens screening at regular checkpoint lines. Travellers are asked to take any electronics larger than phones out of carry-on bags, and sometimes even snacks, to reduce clutter in X-ray images.

  1. Very good news! I often fly out of JFK to BEG and sometimes lines to the standard security lanes are a nightmare. It also means that if Air Serbia enrolled into the TSA-Pre, it will stay here for a little while! YAY!

    1. I don't think precheck has anything to do with staying. The application to join precheck started a while back. I do agree that joining the precheck program will be great for passengers.

    2. To be approved and conform with the TSA Pre is not an easy, fast or inexpensive process for an air carrier. Pretty bureaucratic. Let me please emphasize that an airline such as SAS just enrolled in it as well and their US operations are much bigger than those of ASL. It was much needed for SAS. I just hope BA will enroll one day as they do not participate in it.

P.S. I don't think YU would participate in it if they wanted to terminate the JFK route soon. Just my two pennies. Many negative people on this forum always criticize the YU for the sake of criticizing it. So perhaps YU just spent some $$ and efforts for nothing and JFK will be terminated in September;((...

JU flight to JFK is a political project and will stay until there is political/financial support for it.
Great news for pre check programme.

Operationally speaking, JU is a great company.
The problem is business model devised by EY

Man these 'Mericans are paranoid. Using any excuse to make things more complicated and troublesome for visitors. They may loose the World Cup in 2026 to Morocco due to these racist policies to visitors and immigrants.. Someone should tell them that USA is not what it once was, many people now-a-days travel there only because they have to, for biz, or short visits. Overall visits to USA are down by some 5%. sorry for the o/t rant.
These pre-checks are just reinforcing the American view and paranoia. I would never submit to that kind of humiliation.

The issue is that their (US) paranoia spread all over the globe and they infected all. I am sure that they actually are making money on this behavior because you have to rely on DF shops for any purchases and we all know who owns them. Looking at Beg security they are copying everything these obsessed US players are doing, even sometimes worst.

      According to info from Internet:

Major centers of Serbian settlement in the United States include Indianapolis, Chicago, New York City, Milwaukee (12,000), Cleveland, Pittsburgh, and Jackson, California. So think twice about LAX.

    3. I'm going to be honest. The Serbian diaspora in California is neither large enough nor travels often enough to justify a flight. Lots of Serbs here are from before the 90s and many haven't been back to Serbia in 10+ years.

Yes, and Eastern European diaspora from ORD would choose only JU twice weekly with Lufthansa, Swiss, Austrian multiple daily frequences, not to mention very good and cheap LOT, frequent and affordable Aeroflot, ultra cheap Air Ukraine and much more
