NEWS FLASH

Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport welcomed 150.688 passengers through its doors in October, representing an increase of 18.8% year-over-year. It came on the back of a 3.1% increase in aircraft movements, totalling 2.256. While the figures are a significant improvement on October 2019, which was the first month in the aftermath of Adria Airways’ collapse, passenger numbers are still 6.7% below 2018 levels. During the January - October period, Ljubljana Airport handled 1.384.017 travellers, up 9.6%, or an additional 121.144 customers. Strong growth is expected to continue into November, with current seat capacity levels on scheduled flights up 19.9%.

Nice! easyJet just extended their MAN flights into the summer. Even though the airport said that they are gonna increase frequencies in the summer, it remains two per week.

So what is new for next year? Barcelona and Manchester will be extended into summer as some prople were saying, Edinburgh and Podrgorica are launching and maybe Pegasus to SAW.And reportedly KLM is going double daily, Finnair is increasing capacity as well as Lufthansa. Also there was a meeting between Slovenian and Qatari delegation and there was talks about establishing flights between countries but nothing serious as of now…Anything else?

airBaltic, flyDubain and Aegean adding more frequencies, Wizz will fly with A321 and probably add more frequencies and there are also rumours of another new route, but we don't know where or how certain that is.

This has a highly likelihood of changing, but Wizz scheduled 5 flights per week for December 26

Are there any rumors about potential new summer leissure route ?

There are some rumours from the people who's rumours about previous unannounced routes were correct, so possibly, it is happening, yes. In one of the previous articles one guy said:

"And it's not the only summer route to be announced within a month :)"

And then after being asked for more info (possibly) the same guy replied:

"The success of LPA route will open MANY doors..."

So I am thinking maybe airBaltic has some more stuff up it's sleeve.

W6 should do W rotation SKP-LJU-SJJ-LJU-SKP with double subsides. It's such a short flight and would work 3pw easily.

Either Qatar or Etihad(which is growing fast) will launch flights next year or in 2027. LJU needs more capacity/options to the middle east

I think there is more chance for Qatar. Their LF in Zagreb is really good and they have been having talks about launching LJU for ages.

ZRH Airport just published October figures. Pax Numbers 6.7% up against 2024:
    3’168’118 Passengers

Busiest travel day ever was 05oct with 122'668 passengers. It is a continuing trend, that the busiest day of the year is in OCT and no more in JUL

ZRH is basically ex YU. 100'000s of es YUs leave here, we hve plenty of YU flights ZRH is in almost every capital of ex YU Top 3 or Top 5 destination.

Re LJU Happy to see their positive trend, hope it will continue

Reasons hve been explained several times on this blog.
LJU is now def on a positive way. Especially if they can keep LPA and BCN flights, Easy will add 4th dest and if KL adds 2nd daily etc such as IB BT A3 and LH to FRA switching to A319
Not to forger that Wizz has 2 ex YU routes and might add other dests later on. Small steps but proper direction

Yes once per week to LPA will make braking record results! LJU will become the busiest airport in the region thanks to that one weekly service. Wizz with SKP-LJU route is doing much more than Tranasvia and KLM, let alone the easyjet route to MAN and AirBaltic to LPA. The truth is that LJU has almost reached its potenial, if the game doesnt change. What that means is that if people from Venice, Trieste, Zagreb and Austria start to fly from LJU not the other way around.

Well, Adria had connections via LJU, so returning to the 2018 passenger volume level actually requires considerable growth of the local LJU market vs 2018.
