Adria Airways and Pristina Airport have been nominated at the upcoming 22nd annual World Travel Awards for Eruope. The European Gala Ceremony will take place in Sardinia on September 5. The World Travel Awards serves to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all sectors of the global travel and tourism industry. Adria Airways has been nominated in the category for Europe’s leading regional airline in 2015. It will compete against Aegean Airlines, Air Berlin, Atlantic Airways, BinterCanarias, Eastern Airways, Flybe, Meridiana, Pegasus Airlines and Vueling Airlines. Meanwhile, Pristina Airport has received a nomination in the sought after Europe’s leading airport category. It will face tough competition from other nominees such as Barcelona, Hamburg, Heathrow, Lisbon, Munich, Charles de Gaulle, Amsterdam and Zurich. Pristina Airport opened its brand new multi-million euro terminal in late 2013. No other airline or airport from the former Yugoslavia have been nominated at this year’s World Travel Awards. The ceremony is hailed as “the Oscars of the travel industry”. Each year World Travel Awards covers the globe with a series of regional gala ceremonies staged to recognise and celebrate individual and collective successes within each key geographical region. All regional winners then compete head to head in a final round of voting to decide who will triumph in the global World Travel Awards, which will take place at the end of the year. The winner of each category is decided by votes from thousands of travel professionals and high-end tourism consumers.
