B&H Airlines’ accounts blocked

Tuesday, April 21, 2015

B&H Airlines’ bank accounts have been blocked again after only two months by the asset company HETA. B&H Airlines owes some eight million euros to HETA for the ten-year financial lease of two ATR 72 aircraft, in a deal drafted in 2005. Following marathon talks in February with B&H’s owner - the Federation government of Bosnia and Herzegovina - HETA agreed to reprogram the carrier’s debts and unblock its accounts. However, neither the former nor the newly formed Federation government have made any of the promised payments to HETA. Manfred Gram, HETA’s Managing Director, says the company is very disappointed with the government, noting that its failure to fulfill its commitments has led to such an “unfortunate outcome”. "At the end of last week we tried to find a solution again and we met with the new Minister for Communications and Transport, Denis Lasić, but, unfortunately, we did not get any guarantees that the debt will be paid in the near future. Having all of this in mind, we have no other choice but to block B&H Airlines’ bank accounts again”, Mr. Gram said. B&H Airlines has had a disastrous year so far, maintaining flights with only one aircraft and suspending services to both Belgrade and Copenhagen. The carrier operates scheduled flights to Zurich via Banja Luka and charter flights from Mostar to Italy.

    Oh dear!

But to be realistic no other outcome was to be expected.

This airline cannot work as a scheduled carrier with less then 3 aircrafts connecting SJJ with a couple of unserved but potentially profitable destinations such as PRN, TGD, SKP, FRA, BER from SJJ and domestic routes such as TZL-OMO, BNX-OMO, The ATR is a suitable a/c for all of these destinations if served mostly once daily preferably morning or evening routings to cater for higher yield business pax too.
