Belgrade to separate Terminal 1 / 2 passengers

Monday, March 30, 2015

Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport will reintroduce immigration and passport control at its Terminal 1 building after almost a decade. Passengers using Terminal 1 (primarily for low cost and charter flights) will now be separated from Terminal 2 passengers until entering the departure lounge area. The move is in response to increased passenger flow at Terminal 2. Until now, passengers checking in at Terminal 1 would proceed to the Terminal 2 passport control area. Earlier this month, the airport announced plans to completely overhaul its Terminal 1 building, built in 1962. All arriving passengers will still use the same facilities, which are part of the Terminal 2 building.

When will Terminal 1 complete overhaul work start?

I was against the idea before but the more I think about it, the more convinced I am that T1 should just be demolished and a new, larger terminal be built in its place. I understand the nostalgics (given that I was one) but T1 losts its original charm a long time ago, unfortunetly. No amount of "overhauls" will bring it back AND satisfy the growing demands of the airport at the same time.
