Air Serbia upgrades Larnaca service

NEWS FLASH

Air Serbia has upgraded its seasonal summer service between Belgrade and Larnaca in Cyprus to year-round operations. The carrier initially downgraded the route in 2015. Last winter, it was maintained past the summer only between October 29 to November 15 and from December 20 until January 22. However, the carrier will now sustain a one weekly service from October 28 until the end of the winter season in late March with flights increasing to three weekly at peak travel times. The decision comes as Wizz Air downgrades its year-round operation between the two cities to seasonal summer flights.

This is AUH's mess. If it was up to Belgrade the schedule would have been much better.

What would be the schedule Nemjee?

    4. Nemjee11:35

Three weekly, two night flights and one weekly in the morning with the return at 16.00 - similar to TLV.

Well they are three weekly around the holidays.

Yes but just around the holidays. They can't sustain their BEG network without feed. I stil don't understand why they are not flying year-round, at night, to ATH.

    11. What is the flight number for the morning departure from BEG? It should be JU500 and that has been taken :)

If it was up to me I would bring JU 068. :)

However I think it would be JU 508/509

Good news. I hope they do the same with Malta too. One of the most underrated routes to/from Belgrad.

Nice, if WIzz with its extremely low cost structure and low prices cannot stimulate demand and make the route work, JU certainly can.

Wizz is not cheap at all. I'm flying to Larnaca at the end of September and Wizz was more expensive than Air Serbia! Wizz has better times but Air Serbia was cheaper so flying with them.

The only positive thing about all this nonsense is that the flight departs on Friday at 23.55 so you get the whole day in Belgrade and you arrive to Cyprus on Saturday early in the morning.

Two weekly should have been the minimum, especially because of the connections.

    3. Anonymous11:17

That was our reasoning too. We get a full day in Larnaca.

      Is there market for BEG-PFO?

The problem is you are forced to stay at least a week. Two weekly would be more logical.

Not really. Paphos is on the other side of the island and it has to fight with LCA for Limassol passengers. In the end LCA always wins because its own catchment area is much greater so airlines offer more flights and with it more flexibility. Jat did fly to Paphos during the LCA runway works some years ago. Loads were abysmal.

That said, the other day there was a scandal that erupted in the occupied area where a local politician was caught flying from Paphos on Ryanair because it was much cheaper than to do it from Tymvou/Ercan. lol

Hhahahhaha I would call him a decent politican, at least he will not spend public money :D
I know FR opened a base in PFO and apparently did quite well. I was hoping for them to include BEG too, but alas.
I remember a number of airlines flying to PFO including Jat, Bulgaria Air, I think Tarom did charters too.

LCA was closed from 00.00 to 05.00 during that period so most airlines just moved their flights but others, like JU, couldn't as they didn't have spare planes.

Yes, FR still does well there, they increased a whole bunch of destinations this year. Their PFO-TLV performs really well. They did also add BRU-LCA and LTN-LCA so I think they will not just ignore Larnaca and hand it over to their competition, especially Wizz Air.

@Nemjee 11:13 - I really don't get it, what is good about departures at 23:55, you arrive at 3:20 at Larnaca?

    9. Nemjee09:38

The only good thing is that the flight departs on Friday night so you have the whole weekend in Cyprus. Besides that it's horrible all around.

BTW, what is reason for such a timing? No slots in some other time?
I don't think it's connecting passengers because it doesn't matter for 1 flight per week...

Avioletovi avioni tipa Boeing737-300 su idealni za charter letove za Cyprus i Larnaca airport.
