The COO is responsible for the safe and reliable operation at the airline and is accountable for oversight and maintenance of the Operations division. Thank’s god they said good bye to Grozdanić, who literally destroyed the operations of Air Serbia with his arrogant attitude and ignorance.
With Marijan now heading the operations, brighter times seem to be ahead. Good to see a young and trustful guy being promoted.
    Congrats!

A pilot as a COO is not good for an airline. They don't see the big picture.

A pilot is the COO in all airlines.

Yes, generally, this is true. Nowadays, airlines of any repute, rarely appoint a pilot as a COO. Infact, being a pilot is often a hindrance to undertaking the role of a COO, where engineering, maintenance and keeping aircraft safe and airworthy are main job specs. That said, it doesn't mean that this new young guy will not be able to step up - but it won't be easy and he can't be any worse than Grozdanic - who was the very worst of the worst.
