Adria cancels Brussels flights until April 13

Thursday, March 31, 2016

Adria Airways has cancelled all flights to Brussels Airport from both Ljubljana and Tirana until April 13. The carrier says passengers will be offered connections from Amsterdam to Brussels, with ground transportation to be provided to/from the Slovenian Embassy in the Belgian capital to/from Schiphol Airport. The change in operations comes as a result of the terrorist attacks at Brussels Airport over a week ago. Since then, Adria has operated flights to alternative airports such as Liege and Maastricht. However, these will now be discontinued. Brussels Airport said it will remain closed for passenger flights until at least Thursday afternoon as officials complete an evaluation of temporary repairs needed to re-open on a scaled-down basis. The temporary system will be able to process 800 passengers an hour compared with the normal 5,000. To restore the check-in area completely “could take months”, Brussels Airport's General Manager, Arnaud Feist, told Belgian media earlier this week.
