Air Serbia hiring crew

Friday, August 14, 2015

Just four months since its last recruitment drive, Air Serbia is again hiring new cabin crew members. Interested applicants must apply online, after which an assessment day invitation will be issued to shortlisted candidates. Those interested must be Serbian citizens and have a valid Serbian passport, a high school diploma and must be fluent in written and spoken English. Applications must be lodged by August 24. A full list of requirements and the application form can be found here. During the last recruitment process in April, fifty new crew members were hired out of a total 1.700 applications made. The latest initiative is the third recruitment drive this year.

Why do you think they hire new crew members every couple of months?

Because they are WONDERFUL employer who is VALUING their employees and they diverse personalities, regional leader... ahhahahah well, I guess not everyone wants to work in middle eastern airline by their terms and terror (when it comes to grooming and brainwashing) in the middle of Europe. Simply disgusting.

I happen to know all about it. I need some irony to get out through the day.

But the worst thing is that there are no signs of this changing! That's what's worrying me.
Over time the word will spread of their behaviour and highly skilled applicants will no longer send in their CV.

Again? All while the fleet remains the same and with even capacity reduction during the winter months. Unless they're serious in starting long-haul soon this can mean only one thing.

It's amazing to read the above comments - they all seem to come to the same conclusion - it obviously has to be the employer, what else can it be ? Well, consider the possibility that perhaps it maybe the employee !

Non-performers don't get given contract renewals and they get let go. This company is changing the way that cabin crew get employed and it is a good thing - that way, you don't end up with duds on permanent contracts that you then can't get rid of.

The only ones who have reason to complain, are the non-performers

Nice to see that government bots are here as well.
Actually, at this point, most people in Belgrade know someone who worked for JU and it's a well known fact that work conditions are quite bad.
In conclusion, it's because of the airline, not because the employees are bad- this is best proven by the HUGE number of cabin crew fleeing the company.

    2. Anonymous20:15

You must be one of the non-performers !

It is a simple fact of life - at least in a normal functioning country - if you are unhappy with your employer, then leave !

There are plenty of people who are happy to work - especially in a country with +30% unemployment

    3. Anonymous20:19

And, might i add - the notion of life time employment in this company is a thing of the past. You either perform or you get managed out. If on the other hand you think that there are better options out there for you, then everyone is free to exercise their right to take their skills and know-how elsewhere

    4. No a Jatovac20:24

Yes but there are limits which once passed indicate that there is something wrong with the employer if he is changing his employees so often.
It's unfortunate that some of the high-ranking officials are not changed, maybe then the airline could become slightly more successful. At this rate Air Serbia will become no better than Jat Airways. We are already down to Jat's 2005 schedule, I guess the fleet is next.

    5. Anonymous20:33

Perhaps - but with an extra +1m passengers - something which JAT could never achieve. You are also obviously an old JAT non-performer that simply couldn't find a place in the new world and reality that is 2015

    6. Anonymous20:41

Come on, if I were an old Jatovac I wouldn't be speaking English to you. lol

Hey buddy, if that extra million was so great (read lucrative) then JU wouldn't be cutting so many frequencies this winter season. Their presence in ARN, CPH, SVO... is the same as Jat's just before their downfall. Seems more like the new management failed to find JU's place in today's highly competitive aviation market.
It's ok, network cuts and uncertainty seems to be the trend among Etihad's equity partners. lol

    7. Anonymous20:41

p.s. you might want to learn the difference between JAT and Jat.

    8. Anonymous01:09

One sure thing about you old JAT dinosours - knowing anything about the airline business was so far removed from your consciousness ... no wonder the airline went down the toilet. Network cuts and capacity adjustments are made by all airlines during the winter months where demand for travel substantially reduces - especially those with short haul operations across Europe. As for uncertainty, the airline business is one with constant uncertainty - something that JAT never understood because the govt was constantly footing its bill until it decided no more back in 2013.

Dude, wake up and smell the coffee - Yugoslavia and communism was discredited a long time ago and both are consigned to the history books - along with your JAT. RIP to all 3

    9. Anonymous01:14

And, if you are going to give lessons on the name of the of the old discredited airline, then you should get it right before trying to make yourself out to be Wikipedia ... JAT and Jat Airways, not JAT and Jat.

    10. Anonymous07:28

Actually, if you had any knowledge then you would know that in academic circles Wikipedia is not allowed as a source. But it's ok, seems like I am teaching you a few things tonight. If you want to be pedantic then it's JAT Yugoslav Airlines and Jat Airways. ;) But you get a golden start for trying.

Yes, all airlines cut frequencies but JU is cutting them to such an extent that they are becoming irrelevant. Look at JU's true competitors and see what network they are going to offer this winter. Air Serbia is nothing more than a glorified ethnic carrier, the only difference is that unlike Jat (Airways), it also carriers regional gasterbajters which is best proven by the fact that the airline will add numerous frequencies during the busy months, only to go back to being pathetic once the 'holidays' are over. Given that you work for Air Serbia then you surely know that you don't have a faithful travelling public which will chose your services each time they are travelling but they are only going for you because you are the cheapest. Not surprising given the fiasco with the luggage, which is still not sorted out.

So in conclusion, yes, downsizing is normal but you can't even have daily flights to Berlin or Rome, your alliance partners' hubs! Your network is such that you don't offer connections between Istanbul and Paris and the same fiasco occurred this summer when OTP was downsized to an Atr meaning that connections from BRU, AMS and CDG were impossible for each OTP flight departing at 12.55.

Who are you kidding? Go and sort out your network and finances before insulting the people who kept an airline alive during the hardest period of nation's history. Something you novokomponovani gedzovani wouldn't be able to do. I am just wondering what will happen when SNS is no longer in power...

    11. Anonymous09:33

My friend - THE govt kept "your' airline alive by footing the bill at the end of every year - not you or your people. The fruits of your labour resulted in 'your' airline eventually going the way that it did and it took somebody else to pull it out of the shitcan. That is an indisputable fact. Even your "zuti" realised that things were bad and tried to unsuccessfully (twice) offload that corpse of an airline, yet couldnt. At least the SNS did it right and did it in one fell swoop, snagging a tier 1 airline as a partner.

And, if you did know anything about how airlines and airports work, you'd know that in BEG, Nikola Tesla Airport are responsible for baggage sorting/handling, not the airline - which is one thing that 'your' airline and Air Serbia share as a common pain point

was jat bleeding money in the 70s and 80s? i know there was no real profitability back then but did it operate with government financial infusions or not during it's heyday? thanx

In a central/planned economy - as the country was back then under the auspices of the socialist/communist framework, the govt covered everything - receipts and outgoings - so nothing really mattered. Once the country fell apart, the true worth of all these "great" public companies, was showed up for what they were - poorly managed and undercapitalised companies, without any governance structures or accountability, that could simply not compete in a market economy - JAT included. No surprises that all have fallen by the wayside - which says everything and requires no further comment.

You are too mild, effects of socialist system on society were much worse than just disastrous economy you described. However my question remains - was jat bleeding or making money for the government during those years? I found info in excerpt from Ian Berg book about government capping coverage to 3% of jat losses in 1966, but would assume next two decades had some positive years. In its best year in 1987, jat had 4.5m passengers and 250m usd in revenue. I am still looking for more details.

Komunizam nije voda, a Kardelj ovca. "Pamte ljudi lekcije''. Who know? Kraljevo✈Sydney✈❇☀
