Serbia - Kosovo flight talks to resume

Friday, January 8, 2016

The Serbian Prime Minister, Aleksandar Vučić, has reiterated the importance for the resumption of flights between Belgrade and Pristina after seventeen years, adding that the matter will likely be discussed in Brussels during talks scheduled to take place on January 27. Speaking yesterday, the Prime Minister said he wants to open a new topic at the Brussels talks that would result in "a faster flow of people, goods and capital". Mr Vučić said Air Serbia needed ethnic Albanian passengers to fly from Belgrade in order for the carrier to establish its first transatlantic service to New York in June. He added that Air Serbia hopes to tap into the large "diaspora of Albanians in New York" and that the two must "harmonise economic interests".
