Zagreb terminal construction advances

Wednesday, May 20, 2015

The construction of Zagreb Airport’s new multi million euro terminal is moving forward and on schedule, with work on the 55.000 square meter roof currently in progress. The construction of the 1.400 ton steel roof structure is scheduled for completion by June 30, after which attention will shift to the terminal’s interior. Work on the supporting columns for the eight air bridges is also ongoing. It is estimated that construction will be completed by December 2016, after which an application for an operating license should be submitted. Zagreb Airport’s new terminal will have the capacity to handle 3.5 million passengers per year. The project involves a total investment of 331 million euros.

you're right, capacity is 5 million pax, that is initial capacity will be 5 million, than it'll be upped to 8 million and max 12 million once full expansion is complete. BTW I was afraid that platform will be too small to cater for only 8 aircraft, but it seems they've extended new platform to 500m so it'll be able to cater for few more.

Zagreb Airport regular peak hour is 12 aircraft and as more airliners arrive peak hour might get even busier with up to 15 aircraft by 2017, they need to consider this fact, from practical point it'll be difficult to use old terminal and old platform, distance is an issue.

Can't wait for this one to be completed, the current boarding area is laughable. ZAG really deserves better.
