NEWS FLASH

Air Serbia handled 12.362 passengers between Belgrade and Tirana during the first quarter of the year. The figure represents an increase of 27.4% on 2025, or an additional 2.655 travellers. During the January - March period, the carrier increased its number of flights on the route by 5.9%, while the amount of available seat capacity grew by 5.5%. The airline operated almost all its flights between the two capitals with the ATR72-600 aircraft, with exception of three rotations, on which the Embraer E190 jet was deployed.

Quite good growth. I suspect the more destinations there are from BEG the more passengers this transfer heavy route will have.

Tirana have a lot of connections to Europe, Middle East and soon to North America and two based LCC's with over 60 direct destinations.

@14.51? So? Is it really necessary that on an aviation site someone must explain that having nonstop flights to somewhere does not result in there being no transfer passengers. By that logic, no one from Serbia transfers anywhere because Belgrade Airport has 127 nonstop destinations this summer including North America, Europe, Middle East and Asia with a strong flag carrier and 1 LCC based.

@14:57 In the comments section, even on aviation site, people can freely voice their opinion, for as long as its not offensive or derogatory. So no need for such a tone just because you do not think the same.

It is not about thinking or not thinking the same, it is common sense. I am sure if you asked 14.51 he would confirm that there are transfer passengers from Belgrade to the rest of the world despite the airport having 127 nonstop destinations. Yet somehow this logic does not apply to Tirana. A few months ago there was an article here on top transfer passengers using JFK-BEG route at Istanbul was near the top. Istanbul which has flights to every corner of the globe and multiple daily flights to New York.

I flew on LH last night to BEG and the flight was full to the last seat. I saw there were several passengers from BER. Now you tell me, why did they fly via FRA when JU and W6 fly nonstop? Just because an airport has nonstop flights to many places it doesn't mena people won't connect.

I flew to AMS several times via VIE, and there are, I think, 4 daily direct flights BEG-AMS. It was too expensive. Of course, people use transfers even when there's direct connection. Timing is maybe even more important than price.

Yes, there are such passengers, but they are a drop in the ocean. Also Tirana is much better connected than Belgrade. More flights to Scandinavia, more Italy, Germany, Great Britain and even Spain (entirely used by tourists). Many people don't want to hear this but it is a fact. Tirana is growing despite Albania's population of 2 million.

Why people wouldn't want to hear it? I don't think anyone on here particularly cares about Tirana and no one disputed their growth. TIA is growing and JU is profiting from that.

In the same way, can you answer the question why there are so many charters from LJU to Greece and why there are so many passengers from Slovenia on Ryanair flights from Zagreb? Why is LH stagnating, why is BEG not BEG in 2010, the transfer empires CSA, Malev, Niki, the old LH are gone.

If they had 70% in the quiet period then in summer they might consider adding morning departures from BEG. Those could connect on JFK which arrives at 05.00

Furthermore, I said a morning flight which connects to the JFK arrival at 05.00. Does their 00.40 flight connect to that? No.

I obviously meant a departure time between 06.30 and 07.45.

Short connection time between TIA-BEG-Other Airport sometimes is a problem. You need to go through the security screening again which is stressful due to delays and the people working are not the best to say the least.

anon19:09, TIA was one of fastest growing airports in Europe for years, and Tirana/Albania is getting more a more popular as a tourist destination. No one expects OU to match JU frequencies but 2-3 weekly flights (with an ATR 72) would definitely work. Besides as a leisure route, there are many Albanians working in Zagreb who travel home 3-4 times a year and many international companies serve Albania through their Zagreb regional offices.
