A newly delivered Croatia Airlines Airbus A220-300 aircraft, registered 9A-CAU, was diverted three times in a single day due to an unspecified technical issue. The aircraft, which had joined the airline’s fleet just eleven days ago, on July 31, departed Split for Dublin last Thursday but diverted to Zagreb shortly after take-off. It later made a second attempt to reach the Irish capital but returned to Zagreb after just ten minutes in the air. The aircraft was subsequently replaced, enabling passengers to continue to their destination.

However, 9A-CAU’s next flight that day, from Zagreb to Brussels, also returned to the Croatian capital after around twenty minutes in the air. The jet remained out of service for the rest of the day and throughout Friday. It returned to operation on Saturday and has since completed a number of flights without incident. The nature of the issue has not been disclosed, although passengers on all three services were told that the aircraft had experienced a minor technical problem.
