Wizz Air from Belgrade to Brussels and Gothenburg
The low cost airline Wizz Air, which will open its base at Belgrade Nikola Tesla in April 2011, has announced the launch of another 2 routes. The no frills carrier will begin flights from Belgrade to Gothenburg’s City Airport and Charleroi (Brussels) from late March. The new services will operate twice per week. Attila Dankovics, Marketing, Sales and Communication director at Wizz Air said, “We are excited about our new expansion milestone reached in Serbia. Besides the new direct flight to Gothenburg, our new Brussels flight makes the capital of Europe available directly from Belgrade. This, together with the already operated routes allows more and more passengers to enjoy the Wizz flying experience – great service at truly affordable prices”.

Wizz Air already serves Belgrade from London Luton and Dortmund. The airline will begin flights to Malmo and Rome this week while it will initiate services to Stockholm, Memmingen and Eindhoven next April.

Wizz Air will compete with Jat Airways on both flights to Brussels and Gothenburg. Jat operates flights to Brussels via Amsterdam while Gothenburg was upgraded from a seasonal to an all year round service this year. Unlike Wizz, Jat operates flights to Brussels National Airport and Gothenburg Landvetter Airport.

I am really curious to as what Jat is going to do with their Brussels route now. I do not think that they have a spare plane to separate the route from Amsterdam but let's wait and see what happens.
However one thing is for sure and that is that Jat will still maintain its front cabin to Brussels which is very good for them.

Long time anticipated and very much hoped for Wizz is taking monopoly over BEG low cost operations.

Just look at the time table for London Luton!
    05.30 departure?

Total nonsense for us travelling the "other way".

Unfortunately neither Wizz nor JAT (since I am not confident in spending money four months in advance with this carrier!) will be on my credit card bill.

Next journey from London will be good old Lufthansa with stopover at Munich. It adds 45 min to total time!

    BRING BACK BA! PLEASE!

Charleroi is a very good airport. For anyone interested in aviation management, go to both BRU and CRL's webpage to download a fee schedule. The ops cost in BRU is 35x higher than that in CRL.

JU's routing is really cool. (BEG-AMS-BRU-BEG) But W6 has a much higher competitive advanage in terms of cost.

    @Duchess of Shangay
In all 05:30 departure I've taken in my life, they are filled with either students or entrepreneurs. I'm sure families with babies and businessmen would take LH or JP.

Hi, thx for the great news. I just checked Wizzair´s website for their new schedule. There are a few changes:

    AIRBUS stationed in BEG

    *On MONDAYS*:
    BEG-LTN 05:30-07:20, LTN-BEG 08:05-11:45, BEG-MMX 12:30-14:45, MMX-BEG 15:15-17:25

The EIN-route was taken from the booking system saying that it´s "sold out"

    *On TUESDAYS*:
    BEG-DTM 05:40-07:45, DTM 08:30-10:30, BEG-GSE 16:40-19:10, GSE-BEG 19:40-22:00

There is another AIRBUS involved in the schedule since the BEG-FCO flight is 20:50-22:20, FCO-BEG 22:55-00:30.

    *On WENDSDAYS*:
    BEG-LON-BEG (same as mondays) 05:30-11:45, then BEG-NYO 17:55-20:30, NYO-BEG 20:55-23:25

The planed BEG-FMM-BEG flights are also "sold out", which could leed to the conclusion that these flights have been canceled, too.

The NYO-route is reduced from twice to once a week.

Don´t know, what´s happening now. I don´t believe that WIZZ has two AIRBUS into operations from BEG. Maybe they will introduce some other routes as they realized the lack of sufficient pax.

    *ON THURSDAYS*:
    BEG-DTM-BEG (same as tuesdays) 05:40-10:30

There where scheduled BEG-FCO-BEG flights between 16:55-20:40 but they are cancled, too. The FCO frequency has beend reduced from 3 to 2 time per week.

    *On FRIDAYS*:
    BEG-LON-BEG (1,3,5,7) 05:30-11:45, BEG-MMX 12:50-14:45, MMX-BEG 15:15-17:25

The EIN-route on fridays is "sold out" to (=canceled).

    *On SATURDAYS*:
    BEG-DTM-BEG 05:40-10:30, BEG-GSE 17:55-20:25, GSE-BEG 20:55-23.15

The "other" AIRBUS is used for the BEG-FCO-BEG route between 20:50-00:30.

    *On SUNDAYS*:
    Only BEG-LTN-BEG route between 05:30-11:45.

So, after all: The EIN-route (4,7) has been canceled maybe due to the introduction of "BRU"-Charleroi (the two airports are located within a 130km area). Maybe EIN is canceled because of the high number of Dutch PAX on the DTM flights (I am frequent flyer on that route so I talked to a lot of pax in DTM).

The MMX route has been reduced from 3 to 2 time per week (1,5 remains, 3 is canceled. On 3 there is the new GSE flight which can take the MMX pax on that day.

FFM is canceled totally. Maybe because of the distance between FFM and MUC (and the crapy transfer possibilities), where large diaspora is living. On the other hand, there is the STR route where one could find affordable prices on JU and 4U.

Don´t believe that they will use two AIRBUS in BEG. So, maybe they are just "ajusting" the flight-plan and cut route with insufficient pax numbers. Please comment

    @JU361
Nope, menjaju kompletan raspored.

    WZZ4091 0540BEG - 0745DTM 246
    WZZ4092 0830DTM - 1030BEG 246

    3.EIN takodje ima promene i u vremenima i u danima saobracanja:
    WZZ4071 1100BEG - 1315EIN 4
    WZZ4071 1230BEG - 1445EIN 7

    WZZ4072 1345EIN - 1555BEG 4
    WZZ4072 1515EIN - 1725BEG 7

    4.GSE bez promena.

    5.LTN bez promena.

    WZZ4209 1230BEG - 1445MMX 135
    WZZ4210 1515MMX - 1725BEG 135

    7.FMM promena dana i vremena:
    WZZ4105 1100BEG - 1245FMM 26
    WZZ4106 1315FMM - 1450BEG 26

    WZZ4001 0530BEG - 0730LTN 1357

Excellent news for both Belgrade and Wizz Air. Once again, this proves how Belgrade is becoming a regional hub for Ex-Yu.

    Great news!
Only BGY is maybe missing out of schedule:( But again, daily schedule is made for full use of an aircraft, which will be based in BEG.
It is noticeable that traditional EZY hubs like Milano, Paris, etc are left not being served. Hopefully it is a sign we will see EZY in Belgrade soon as well!

One thing is a little bit unclear. If CRL is starting on march 29th, and EIN on april 1st, what is that plane going to do in between those dates(March 30th and 31st)?

I think that they will have to station another plane @ BEG. The more the better :)

    @ JU500

Is Wizzair terminating ZAG-LTN from Spring? I tried booking for April and there was N/A for all flights - so I had to book Easyjet.

There will be more changes to WIZZ schedule from Belgrade...they are testing certain markets/destinations and depend on results keep them last or cancel. Do not forget that since WIZZ came to BEG other 'big' players like LH,SR,AF and others adjusting their ticket rates and keeptrong competition. It would't be easy for anyone to keep things unchanged, good for us, passengers!

Amen. I am not a big fan of Wizzair nor do I intend on flying on them, however I am more than happy that they are here. Firstly a lot more people will be able to fly now and secondly the legacy carriers will lose some passengers hence why to prevent the number falling drastically they had to drop their prices.

    So now we have:
    1. Wizzair
    2. Germanwings
    3. Niki
    4. Norwegian
    5. airBaltic (well they call themselves hybird but whatever)

I think that we will get Easyjet and that's it for Belgrade. Doubt that we will see Ryanair coming anytime soon.

EZY is coming to BEG next year, that's for sure. It's gonna be confirmed early next year.
I think FR will never fly out of BEG, because of higher taxes, if they do it anytime in the future, it's gonna be either from BJY, shall they decide to open it for civil flights or less likely from INI. Tho I was flying with them and don't like them personally, I wouldn't mind having them somewhere around Serbia, just because of competition and more people would be able to fly.

RYR is unlikely to fly from BEG any time soon since they have tested BEG couple of years ago. BEG is capital airport, fees are higher, there is no united tourist infrastructure to support and make RYR flights possible. Like someone said in his post, RYR is most likely to be seen in BJY if this airport ever turns to civil. But if this happens, it is most likely that WZZ and EZY (if starts flying until then) would like to see themselves rerouted to BJY due fees (which would be very interesting!). Should this happen we're gonna see some real no frill flights!
