Soon in Podgorica and Tivat

The Montenegrin Minister for Sustainable Development and Tourism, Predrag Sekulić, has announced that Ryanair is prepared to begin services to both Podgorica and Tivat this September. Besides Ryanair, the Montenegrin Government is negotiating with both easyJet and Wizz Air. However, only Ryanair is prepared to begin services this year. On the other hand, easyJet and Wizz Air are also interested in commencing flights to Montenegro but only from 2012. Sekulić told the Antena M radio station, “They [Ryanair] would initially operate flights from Great Britain, from London and Glasgow, to both Podgorica and Tivat. Prices will be in line with airline policy”.

The new low cost arrivals will prove problematic for the debt ridden Montenegro Airlines which has said that talks between the government and low cost airlines are unjustified. Montenegro Airlines’ CEO has previously stated that low cost airlines will operate during the summer season and take passengers away from Montenegro Airlines on routes the carrier has nurtured throughout the year.

This summer, Montenegro Airlines operates 3 flights per week from Podgorica to London Gatwick Airport. On the other hand, Ryanair has bases at both London Luton and London Stansted, with the latter being the largest base in its network.

JAT used to transport cattle to Middle East ages ago. Old B-707's were used for that.

Volga Dnepr/Air Bridge Cargo were used to export cows from Russia (Moscow, Irkutsk and Krasnodar) to Melbourne in Australia onboard 747-400F and once Polet IL-96-400T also flew cattle to Australia!

I also have seen many Air Koryo (North Korean carrier) Ilyushin Il-76 freighters carrying live stock from Europe to Pyongyang.

I feel sometimes that us passengers are treated the same way as cattle too. Those cramped seats and tiny airplanes that are getting just smaller and smaller. I bet even cows on those cargo jets have more personal space than me 6.1 tall on a passanger airplane.

    Do not use LCC :)
From my experiences they are not all the same. Love EasyJet but hate Ryanair and its general attitude. Loved Sky Europe more than all the other LCC.

This evening was revealed that MAT Airways merged with Airlift Service-Skywings.MAT took over the Airlift plane Z3-AAJ.
Airlift Service will exist no more as air company.
So from tomorrow and on MAT AIRWAYS will be operating with 2 aircraft to 8 destinations.
They merged with the aim of reducing costs and more effective operations. After almost 2 years Macedonia got again a carrier of the size of former MAT-Macednian Airlines

We do care because they employ hundreads of people instead of forcing them to be part of the diaspora in order to do their jobs:-)
And finally low cost wouldnt have been so low costs if there hadnt been normal carriers

    @ the last anonymous

Do you really think that ex yu airlines can actually contribute to the emigration of it's citizens. Obviously no airline can employ all it's nations unemployed. Therefore we have to make do with the problem we have. We have an extremely large diaspora around the world therefore the diaspora needs cheap tickets to come back and visit there family etc. They cannot be burderened by idiotic ex yu airlines.

For all the idiots that work for Montenegro Airlines that think that it will take away business from them, wake up and look at how many Croatian hire cars are in Montenegro every week thousands in the Summer and lots in the Winter, thats all business that Montenegro could have, they must be laughing all the way to the bank in Croatia, finaly we got a cheap airline, do they realise how many thousands of people will come here for holidays from the UK and Ireland and invest in property, i started coming to Montenegro in 1997 and you could fly from Gatwick to Tivat on a Saturday with JAT since then they went backwards, Montenegro Airlines should concentrate on making money from there airports rather than flying as they are not capable
