Air Vallée to Mostar

Soon in Mostar
The Italian airline Air Vallée will commence seasonal summer flights from Abruzzo Airport near Pescara, on Italy’s eastern coast to Mostar from April 1. The decision was reached after successful talks were held between the city of Mostar, Mostar Airport, tour operators and Abruzzo Airport. Services will operate twice per week, every Monday and Friday until the end of the summer season. As a result, a total 52 flights will be operated. A total of 54 seats per flights will be pre-booked by tour operators while the rest will go on sale.

Lucio Laureti, the head of SAGA, which operates Abruzzo Airport, told local media, “For the moment flights to Mostar will operate during the summer but there is already a pre-contract for flights to continue in the winter. Offcourse, everything depends on the response we get from passengers”. While pilgrims visiting Medjugorje will play an important role in making the flights a success, Laureti believes there is also room for other types of passengers. “There is commercial interest as well. Soon Mostar will host the International Economic Fair and Italy is Bosnia’s third largest trade partner”, Laureti says.

Flights between Mostar and Pescara operated for a short time last year by B&H Airlines although flights to Pescara ultimately went to Air Vallée this year. Late last year the Bosnian national carrier expressed interest to expand operations out of Mostar. While Mostar does not have scheduled flights, it enjoys numerous charters. In 2011, Mostar Airport handled 36.807 passengers, an increase of 107% compared to 2010, and secured its position as the second busiest airport in the country after Sarajevo.

I guess JA can not operate these flights due to fleet shortages. They have a massive network expansion coming their way.

Hahah, good one :P.. But seriously, I'm really wondering if they have anything new coming...

Anyways, this is good news for Mostar Airport. Finally taking some of the Medjugorje pax. :)

The reason for choosing Air Vallee is tour operator request for aircraft with 100+ seats. While B&H airlines couldn't offer their single jet a/c, Italian carrier offered Fokker 100 aircraft (100PAX).

What is now going on with B&H Airlines?
Do they fly or do they not fly?

What they want to do i dont care much about...
cause whatever they promise does never realize!

I smell bankrupcy in the air...
whatever they say ...for a ticket with them i will never pay!

No offense, but atheism rules, that's why it's a scam :)

On topic, this is even more desperate than Nis-Rimini, or was it Rimini? It's going to cost money Mostar taxpayers, and I fail to see any benefit of these flights.

    Hey people,
There is rumours that at ZAG airport there was seen ghost of Tito !

In future there will be a lot of people flying to Zagreb airport solely to see or feel the ghost of this outstanding politician and world leader !

I predict ZAG to double its visitors in very short time !

I don't follow any religion, but please leave anyone who does in peace.

Medjugorje is one of many places where this happening would have occured, so only judging medjugorje is a bit strange ha?

Go to Mekka or Jerusalem and repeat your comments or piss of. This is an aviation forum!!!!!!

Why should I leave someone who believes something idiotic "in peace"?

I'll choose to call someone who believes something idiotic an idiot, and will do so publicly and stridently and at every opportunity.

But, thanks for your suggestions on how I should conduct myself.

I'm saying this about medjugorje because this article is about flights to Mostar, the vast majority of travelers going to medjugorje.

If you only care about yourself I suggest you only stick to yourself and leave your comments to yourself as well

Your comments have nothing to do with aviation, Bo.

Please stick to the topic of charter flights for idiots traveling to Medjugorje - one of the most successful scams on earth.

    Thanks.

Air Vallee has these F100's still on order. Anyone knows where they are coming from?

At first, the story was that they were going to order E195's, but I guess this is cheaper.

I really hope a lot of people who see Medjugorje as important to them are going to use these flights :)!

Could OMO get its act together for a regular line? It's been years since one has operated! This is one of a handful of services which *should* theoretically be profitable and sustainable for the airport.

Let's see if this triggers an avalanche of other airlines to operate into the airport.

On the topic of Medjugorje, it is quite amazing to see a small town develop the way that it has just based on this religious tourism. Whether you believe in the story or not, the town has profited greatly. Medjugorje has more overnight hotel stays than any other city in Bosnia. There are over one million visitors each year. When I went there I was amazed at the number of tourists and the amount of money being poured into the local economy. The only place in the ex-yu I have seen more tourists in one place is Dubrovnik (or perhaps the Exit Music festival in Novi Sad).

If they are marketed properly these flights could be very successful. Most Medjugorje tourists fly to Split and then take buses. This takes about 2 hours. The Mostar airport is only about 30 minutes away. This could be a boon for the bus industry and the airport.
