Fresh suspensions at B&H

B&H temporarily suspends most flights
B&H Airlines has temporarily suspended services to Zurich, Copenhagen and Banja Luka, leaving the carrier with a single daily service to Istanbul. Services to Zurich, via Banja Luka, will resume on April 24, while flights to the Danish capital return to the airline’s network on May 2. The suspensions highlight continuing problems the carrier is having with its part owner Turkish Airlines, which has taken back its Airbus A319 from the B&H fleet, unhappy with the government’s attitude towards its national carrier.

B&H currently has one ATR72 in its fleet. The other is formally still undergoing maintenance. However, there is hope that the aircraft will return soon. According to the official schedule the carrier will increase services to Istanbul to double daily from April 25, operate five weekly flights to Zurich and three weekly services to Copenhagen. The current scheduling would require a second aircraft.

Airlines operating to and from Sarajevo have profited from B&H’s woes and Malev’s demise. With inflated prices, Austrian is now operating two daily flights to the Bosnian capital, with much success. Jat Airways will be doubling capacity during the peak summer months as the Serbian carrier will operate flights with its Boeing B737-300 instead of the ATR72.There is still no word from Niki which is conducting a feasibility study into launching flights to Sarajevo.

Bye bye JA, remember to turn the lights off as you leave... There is no way this airline will ever be back operating as they were!

OU must re-introduce the 3rd-daily SJJ service (dep ~10am ex ZAG) to better match the demand of flights - or to upgrade the afternoon route to a 319 again, providing the right amount of seats for the route.

Svim koji se smiju i predlazu gasenje svijetla na odlasku :
SVE DO ZADNJEG DINARA BH AIRLINES CE LETJETI I NECE GASITI SVJETLO. DRZAVA JE OLAKO PREPUSTILA TURCIMA DA SAMOSTALNO UPRAVLJAJU I NAPRAVE GUBITKE, I SAD JE RED DA SE VADE. PUNI AVIONI SU NAJBOLJI POKAZIVAC DA PUTNICI VJERUJU U BH AIRLINES I NE BOJE SE SKROMNE FLOTE. NIJE BILO PREVISOKOG LETA I NECE BITI PRENISKOG PADA. SVE DOK SU ZADOVOLJENE NORME BEZBEDNOSTI LETENJA, NEMA STAJANJA !

It's really good example that privatisation is not rebirth for all airlines. bh, malev, flylal for example. the only way to save an airline is good management, right routes, realistic fleet and passengers to trust enough that they airline want gonna cancel their flights which is unfortunately not a case with those airlines.good luck BH airlines!

Why keep flying to Istanbul? Seems like much of the trouble stems there. Copenhagen is a great destination for B&H due to the number of diaspora in Denmark, but also in Malmo. Focus there...

Even an airline with a single aircraft is an airline.

B&H should concentrate on daily flights to Zurich.

The Istanbul route has already too much competition.

@ExYu: this is a direct copy from airlineroute.net basically..

If you check amadeus, it is actually the week of 24.04 till 01.05 that flights to Zurich are suspended and other weeks they run

oh and to add.. Austrian has had 2 daily flights to SA for AGES...

And capacity increase of JAT is not (only) because of demand, but also ATR's are operated to the MAX in JAT's schedule

    Well observer and ExYu:

I have looked it up for you.

12/19/20/23.04 2x Istanbul, and from then on double daily every day.

13/15/18/21/22/24 April, Zurich and from 01.05 on Daily. So NO flights from 25 up until 30.04

This is of course if BH doesn't go 'belly up' before that.

To comment on myself (1 anonymous above you ;)). Zurich won't go to daily, but 1x/2x week till 18.05. As will Copenhagen from 01.05 / 18.05 only 1x week. Probably partly suspensions will continue, so maybe this is already our answer?

Obviously nobody is reading the news apart from what is said in this website.
    Please take a look.

    http://www.oslobodjenje.ba/vijesti/intervju/vlada-fbih-nije-ispunila-obaveze-iz-partnerstva

You will see in the above link an interview made with Turkish Airlines' President Hamdi Topcu in Oslobodjenje newspaper from Sarajevo.

There you will see that Turkish Airlines, through their management, tried all possible ways to solve things with the Bosnian Government to save the company.

And as you will also remember, B&H Airlines had great plans for Summer 2012 which was public information around December 2011 and which was applaused by all of us here.

However, the Government, who agreed to contribute to capital increase did not fulfil their requirements and did not even make the payments for the ATRs which they have been doing since the beginning of the company.

You can not be this blind to this information.
Had the Government kept their promise, the company would be in a much better situation now.

But, it is obvious that the Government do not give a damn about its own airline. They are happy with their citizens' paying double or triple the amount of money for the same ticket for other airlines.

This is not fair for all of us who live in Bosnia and Hersegovina.

I am not surprised at all to this information.
It is evident that the government do not really care about B&H Airlines.

Tuesday, a lot of ministers went to Istanbul for some summit.

    Which airlines did they use?

    B&H Airlines?

    OF COURSE NOT!

    They fled with Turkish Airlines.

    WHY??

B&H Airlines did not have a flight that day?

    NOO!!
B&H Airlines had a flight that would leave a couple of hours after Turkish.

If this had happened in a different country, the public would have jumped up and down, made protests about it.

How can you choose to fly with another airline while your FLAG CARRIER is there?

Yeah, yeah. Turkish Airlines bad, management is worse, this and that, bla bla.

Honestly, when such a thing happens, all others loose their importance.

If TK management is on the right way, why they changed their men in B&H. If they were successfull never sent back. This TK's top managemnet fault. They should have appointed the right and talented person for B&H....

O tome neki drugi put.
