| Record run for airports in Skopje, Split and Dubrovnik |
Skopje Alexander the Great Airport has recorded its busiest month in history this June. Macedonia’s main international gateway handled 116.352 passengers, its best monthly result to date. The numbers represent growth of 20.8% compared to last year’s 96.337 passengers. During the first half of the year, Skopje Airport welcomed 535.050 travellers through its doors, marking another record. So far, growth this year has averaged 20.3% compared to the same period in 2013. The passenger surge was spurred on by increased traffic with the launch of several new routes this summer. In June alone, Skopje Airport registered a total of 1.230 flight operations, up 16.7% on last year. During the first half of the year the airport has seen a 12.2% increase in the number of arriving and departing flights compared to the same period in 2013.

Croatia’s second busiest airport also joined the record books in June. Split Airport welcomed 236.921 travellers through its doors, marking its busiest June in history. The airport saw an increase of 3.5% compared to the same month last year. Despite a slow start to 2014, Split has handled 550.844 passengers so far this year, an improvement of 6.4%. “Split Airport’s traffic figures and statistics show the biggest passenger and aircraft growth ever registered at the beginning of the summer season. This trend is expected to continue”, the airport said in a statement.

Last but not least, Dubrovnik Airport has also continued to record improved passenger figures. The airport welcomed 234.887 travellers in June, an increase of 4.9% compared to the same month last year. June 29 proved to be the busiest day of the month with 12.576 passengers passing through the airport. The average cabin load factor on flights arriving and departing Dubrovnik stood at an impressive 89% throughout the month. In its half yearly standings, the airport is currently ahead of Split, with 556.895 passengers handled during the first six months, representing an increase of 1.7%. “We are satisfied and we expect to achieve this year’s plan and register growth of 2-3% compared to last year’s record results”, Frano Luetić, Dubrovnik Airport’s Commercial Manager and Deputy Director General said.

DeleteHe is comparing Croatian and Serbian airport together. Unfortunatily Serbia does not have nay ariport exempt Belgrade, and Croatia have 9 international airports.
Deletewith RJK, LSZ, BWK and OSI, it is for sure more than 900.000 passengers in June. In July and August it will be more than 1.000.000 per month.
Was that 8% growth forecast for all Croatian airports or just for Zagreb ? So far only Split is close to that target with 6.4%, Zagreb only 2%!

DeleteAdmin, can you pls make an article about Pula airport. It seems that they will have huge pax growth this year. There are many new carriers there and it would be interesting to find out something more about that airport. Greetings.

ReplyDeleteBut they need some National Carreers or other big airliners like Lufthansa, Airfrance, KLM, Aeoroflot etc. to take them to Frankfurt, Munich, Moscow, Paris, Amsterdam and some other big European Hubs.

DeleteWhy do they need legacy carrier? Low cost can serve those routes just fine. Maybe they need EasyJet with routes other than Wizz have.
