| Air Serbia increases revenue, passenger numbers and cargo |
Air Serbia yesterday posted its results for the first half of the year, recording an increase in revenue, passenger numbers and cargo. The Serbian carrier saw its operating revenues total 95.5 million euros, an increase of 29% over the same period last year. It handled 1.1 million passengers, up 19%. The airline’s passenger carrying capacity, measured in Available Seat Kilometres (ASKs), increased by 10% to 1.74 billion, while its on-time performance averaged 84.2%, an improvement 13.3% on 2014. Air Serbia Cargo also performed significantly better in H1 2015, carrying 1.763 tonnes of freight, a 42% increase on H1 2014. As a result, cargo revenue grew by 28%. The airline omitted to post both its profit margins and average cabin load factor.
Commenting on the results, Air Serbia’s CEO, Dane Kondić, said, “During the first half of this year we have continued to deliver against the clear commercial mandate set out by our two shareholders. These results are strong even when compared to the encouraging numbers we saw in the first half of 2014, the first full calendar year of Air Serbia’s operation”. He added, “Importantly, we have continued to grow not just in revenues and passenger numbers, but also in reputation, performance and maturity, emerging as a regional industry leader in a relatively short period of time. As we approach our second anniversary later this year, we continue to focus on the enhancement of our offer and the development of our people. These are areas that are most directly related to our ability to deliver on superior standards of service, the key factor for our long-term success”. The airline created an additional 269 jobs during the first half of the year.
Last week, Serbia’s Prime Minister, Aleksandar Vučić, said the airline will lease an Airbus A330 aircraft in order to commence transatlantic flights during the first quarter of 2016. Reiterating that the carrier will launch services to New York, the PM said that both the airport and Air Serbia will work together to meet all technical requirements needed for these flights, especially baggage transfer which has proved problematic in the past. Mr Vučić added that Air Serbia is expected to be profitable for a second consecutive year, expressing his gratitude to the airline’s part-owner, Etihad Airways, for providing Air Serbia with a good network, transfer opportunities and know-how.

The avalanche of hate in 3, 2, 1...
Those that consider Air Serbia to be a worse crime than the holocaust
Those that consider Air Serbia to be God's gift to humanity
And those whom understand that Air Serbia is neither perfect nor horrible, but somewhere in between.
"Someone is trying to destroy Air Serbia but thus far they haven't much success. They're still trying."
Germany would be the usual suspect. One assumes he is referring to Lufhansa, right ?

Is this ok or not?
No change from Slobo the Almighty until now.
1h 2014 revenue 102mil
1h 2015 revenue 95.5mil up 29% ????
95.5mil should be 2q revenue and total 1h 2015 95.5 + 39 = 134.5mil
I think it is air serbia mistake that they didnt say it is 2q revenue.
Is there any way u can check with them?
1. South Stream is dead.
2. Belgrade Waterfront is going from one disaster to another.
3. Standard of living has gone down.
4. Salaries and retirement cheques have been reduced.
5. Vucic has become as bad as Tadic when it comes to arrogance and his general behaviour of acting like a victim.
As for his enemy remark, I think he referred to some people from within Serbia, just like he attacked Ljajic and Pajtic the other day. Vucic should remember that we have a tradition in Serbia, each time a politician calls for early elections, he is badly defeated.
Concerning this average of 87 EUR is very bad!
Why don't they say exactly which routes are profitable and which ones are loss making?
This is how a real airline reports it's results.
What will happen when that single aircraft breaks-down? It will not only create a problem for that flight but for many others.
How do they intend on being competitive with maximum 2 weekly flights to some North American destination?
Of course, we don't know what people are really paying because we would need to subtract the other sources of income such as cargo and selling tickets on other airlines' networks.
Your comment is overtly pessimist and subjective.
1. South Stream was shelved, due to the geopolitical situation in Ukraine. It's beyond Serbia's control, and is what it is. The need for a natural gas stream through the Balkans is a given, and it will be constructed within the next 20 years.
2. Belgrade Waterfront is far from a disaster. The building of the first two towers will commence on 20 September. I don't know when you were last in Savamala, but if you took the effort, you would have seen that the preparation work has been finalised, and the first part of the new promenade is well under construction. This is not an overnight project, and for a country with our level of means, will be done in phases.
3. Standard of living has, according to statistical data that is readily available, gone up. As compared to year-on-year, salaries are marginally higher, inflation is at an all-time low and unemployment is falling. If your personal standard of living has gone down, it is not reflective of the rest of the population.
4. Salaries of public servants and pensions did go down, but that was necessary, in order to stabilse the budget. In a country like ours, where the aspirational backbone of employment is in public and not private sector, the strain on the budget is immense. It was either that, or we all end up like Greece. This is a short-term measure.
5. Vucic's "victimised" stance is his modus operandi. Each unto their own. As long as we see results, which in my humble opinion are quite visible, unless you selectively elect not to open your eyes, he can behave like Charlie Chaplin, for all I care.
Postali ste stvarno degutantni sa negativnim izjavama i u onim situacijama kada su vesti sasvim ok, kao ovde.
1. It doesn't matter why it was suspended the fact is that Vucic was boasting that it was all thanks to his government and that it will be our ticket out of poverty. He lost that weapon from his arsenal.
2. Belgrade Waterfront has gone from 'we will invest billions in reconstructing the whole area and a tower will rise over the city' to 'we are building a simple, two tower building right next to the Savski most. Then there was the whole lex specialis nightmare with the Savanova debacle when it was revealed that the building was built without the necessary permits (and it still doesn't have them). Furthermore, the contract between Serbia and Eagle Hills is still a mystery. In the end, shall I remind you that Eagle Hills got 68% of the entire project for 22,000 Euros? Yeah, ok...
3. Statistics, statistics and lies. Shall I remind you that back in 2000 Greece presented its own statistics which proved they were eligible to become a Eurozone member. Look at them today. Statistics can be fixed easily in order to serve someone's interest.
Ako si ti ista drugaciji od nas, sta se spustas na nas nivo onda? ;)
How are these people supposed to move into the private sector when it's being destroyed by excessive taxation, inefficient bureaucracy and so on.
That will only make a bad situation worse.
Pre nekoliko meseci LBA samo sto ih nije zatvorila zbog nelikvidnosti.
Ne znam o kom uspehu pricas? Mozda o AZ? Jetu?
Nadam se da ce sa dolaskom A332 otvoriti se jos neka linija prema bliskom istoku .
I nadam se da ce se moja zelja ispuniti o dolasku dva 320 Ceo.

I think you are still beating around the bush a bit.
1. A the time Vucic was boasting about it, it seemed a done deal. Everything at the time indicated it was a project that will materialise. And, if it wasn't for the Bulgarian EU/NATO ass-kissing government, we would probably be seeing the results, as we speak.
2. I don't know if you are misinterpreting the facts, but as I mentioned, a project of that caliber has to be split in phases, Nemoze da BnV izraste kao zelena trava. Mora negde da se pocne. So those two towers are segment A of phase 1. Followed by segment B, phase 1, etc. 22,000 je minimum suma koja su Arapi uplatili da bi stekli udeo u kompaniji. Investicije su znatno veceo od toga.
3. Well, statistics have not always been so rosy. So are they also fixed when they show negative trends? Over the past 2 years, there have been plenty of negative stats.
http://www.flightradar24.com/QTR225/72d02db
There is another poster who warned there might be an error in Air Serbia's statement and the real 6-month operating revenue could be 134 million euro. That would make an average payment of 121 euro per segment, or, 242 euro per return ticket.
But of course, why reading other posts if the daily mission is to hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate...
"What type of airline company reports "results" without saying if it was profitable or loss making"
Actually many companies do this and for different reasons. Company I work for do that all the time since they are not publicly traded so they don't have to provide full disclosure. i asked once our PR lady what's behind it and she said that they don't want competition to know what or margins are. Here, I have a tough time believing this is the reason (95M income on 1.12M pax!!!)
This is something I noticed yesterday and posted here. Now you can call it hate but 95M is a figure in the official press release. I think it's just natural to trust that source more than some anon poster who says that the figure is not correct
I am also free to criticize them.
if you don't like it that's too bad for you.
Thankfully people like you are a tiny minority.
ASL is a JOKE of an airline.
It has no relation with airlines operating in EU countries and making proper statements and full disclosures of their financial situation.
Sarajevo - 89.319
Tuzla - 33.666 !!!
Mostar - 9.715
Banja Luka - 2.554
Bosnia Total - 135.254
87 is the figure... I would like to be higher
“269 jobs created in the first half”. Ideally we would like to know what is the NET number. I presume that 10% increase in ASK would require some additional cabin staff but not a lot. Also, they hired some lounge staff etc. but I’ll argue that majority of this is replacement for people who left. Why do they leave? Many people here commented that staff is not treated very well, salaries are small… I would add that MEB3 are always active recruiting young attractive FAs, so portion of them left because of this. Regardless, I don’t know exactly how many employees ASL (probably 2000-3000 the most) but 10+% turnover in staff in half a year is definitely not a good statistics. Again it would be nice to know exact numbers so that one can reduce assumptions but from what I see they shouldn’t be talking about this as something positive.
“On-time performance average 84.2%, up 13.3%”. Very good result; worldwide stats seem to hover around 80% from what I can see. Last year on this blog there was a lot of conversation about this and obviously with a good reason. Lately, this has died down to non-existence almost. So, kudos to ASL and BEG for improving very important statistic. Hopefully they can do the same on other fronts. Also kudos to most people here as this shows that MOST of the people here actually know what they are talking about.

Your "argument" on proper and full disclosures in EU countries is more of a joke than Air Serbia can ever possibly become. It only confirms what kind of a sad hater you are. You don't like them - you don't fly them. It is that simple. Plenty of options out there. Preaching your hatred to others is just pathetic.
I think you will agree that most customers buy RETURN FLIGHTS so it would be good to clarify whether they pay 87 or 174 euro in average for a return flight. If they pay an average 87 euro for a SINGLE SEGMENT then you may wish to notify us how does that compare to other carriers?
Second, official statements can be wrong sometimes. Anon 10:43 provided a clear argument - the airline says their 6-month revenue in 2015 is 95M euro, up 29% from 2014. But their 6-month revenue in 2014 was BIGGER than 95M euro which clearly indicates they mixed something up when they were writing the statement.
Another thing I don't understand is why don't they keep Skopje at least 10 weekly with 3 night departures. Those were always popular.

What I dislike is the use of 'we all know very well...' accusations instead of arguments.
If you are worried where your money goes you can try and provide some numbers. If there are no numbers you can criticize it as such. 'Everybody does this, only Air Serbia does not' is not an argument - it is a label that is supposed to make the carrier bad no matter what. That is the problem with haters, they can't tell objective criticism from sandwich activism.
There have been rumours of ASL's transatlantic flights on this blog for more than a year. It was never related to any elections. Now you haters all know there will be elections (not just rumours, you KNOW) and you know flights will be launched a week before people go to the polls. That is what I hoped to google - THE DATES. Which you of course don't have. But you do have enough hate to fill at least 700 lorries. If hate could be exported for cash Serbia would be by far the richest country in the world.
One of the possible reasons for him wanting to go for elections is because he wants to 'take' Vojvodina.
Zanimljive vesti sa aerotelegraph treba da se stvori Air Albania investitori si iz Kuwajita i treba imati flotu od A320 .

Also, all of your fanboys have until winter to brag and whatnot... summer is almost over. ;)
If he is stupid, than you seriously suffer form arrested development, based on your comment. Parliamentary elections, according to the Serbian constitution, can be called up in the instance, amongst others, of the resignation of the PM, whose resignation automatically means the resignation of the entire cabinet. So, if Vucic decides to resign tomorrow, that is constitutionally a valid excuse to call new elections, and he is legally allowed to stand again in those elections. .
So, please stop creating intrigues with your uneducated comments and do some research.
As for Vojvodina, it will be taken, and it will be taken very well, since it makes no sense that a party that has 5% popular support, controls it. The province will, naturally, go to those who will win the elections, and it most certainly wont be the current furniture in Banovina Palace.
Yeah, don't get ahead of yourself. SNS is far from being a successful party and they might have done some positive things but the negative is not negligible. Don't be so hasty with your attacks against DS... or do you have to so as to earn your sandwich and your €10?
Wrong again. He can resign on his own accord. Please check the constitution and stop embarrassing yourself further. Of course he wants the election because the opposition is weak. Duh. You would do the same if you were him. He wants to cement his position and prolong his mandate. And, if that is what the people want, that is what it will be, in a democratic system.
I'm not getting ahead of myself. For our post 1991 Balkan misery, SNS is an above average party.
Dude, I'm not attacking DS. But they have 5% support amongst the people, so through unfair juggling, they are still in control in the northern province. All I'm saying is that those who the people want, should rule. And there is currently a distorted situation in Vojvodina, based on the climate in which the previous elections in the province were held.
I'm on a protein diet currently so I don't eat sandwiches. But thanks for worrying about my appetite. Sta je staramajka spremila vama za pojesti, danas?
