NEWS FLASH

The General Manager of Zagreb Airport, Jacques Feron, has announced that the current passenger terminal, which will be closed in March 2017 following the opening of a new facility, will be used for freight storage and office space. Mr Feron said the airport will put a greater focus on cargo operations after the new terminal is completed. He added that despite its larger size, Zagreb lags behind Ljubljana in cargo operations. According to Mr Feron, there is great potential in developing cargo traffic due to the airport's location and general demand. Zagreb Airport handled 9.225 tonnes of cargo in 2015, compared to Ljubljana's 10.140 tonnes.

total numbers for both airports are insignificant at the moment.
will see what the future will bring.
      but, good move for ZAG

I am not sure what should be better option for ZAG? To make old terminal as LCC and charter one or as cargo one. For sure it is better to have one terminal for all flights (costs, connections, operations), but I am not sure that Zagreb needs so much space for cargo as old terminal will provide, and that it is cheap to reconstruct passenger terminal to cargo one. Luckily old terminal is huge assembly hangar without solid walls and most of it can be disassemble easily. Arrivals area can be disassemble from entrance to bank easily as huge hangar, even domestic departures area check in and body-check included can be big hangar without walls. Present glass gates can be easily remove and they can put here huge cargo doors.

well, let me put like this. LCC terminal? I don't think that is good idea since there is a new terminal building on the same airport. LCC are looking for airports with low fees. LCC would make sense if you had an airport with two mutually independent entities. Which you don't.
Cargo terminal is a good move.

      Priča nije glupa. Upravo suprotno.

To pojeftinjuje poslovanje, ubrzava i pojednostavljuje operacije, povečava konektiranost...
