NEWS FLASH

Tuzla Airport has seen its passenger numbers decline for a third consecutive month this September when compared to last year. The airport, which acts as a base for budget carrier Wizz Air, handled 27.794 travellers during the month, a decrease of 3.8%. It is the first time the airport’s figures have declined since the low cost carrier launched operations from the city in 2013. The decline is partly the result of Wizz Air’s termination of its Tuzla – Sandefjord service last November. However, overall, Tuzla Airport handled 231.972 travellers during the first three quaters, up a notable 19.9% on last year. Wizz Air will add flights from Tuzla to London Luton and Billund at the end of the month before basing a second aircraft and opening a handful of new routes from Bosnia and Herzegovina’s third largest city in March 2017.

Diversion season already started, WizzAir could not land last night, yet navigation aids and runway lightning still not improved in Tuzla.
