Air Serbia has today introduced a new fare structure, marking the completion of its transformation into a hybrid carrier. As reported on Monday, passengers will now be able to choose from four fare types when booking a flight - Economy White, Economy Blue, Economy Red or Business Silver - which vary according to baggage allowances, flexibility in changing travel dates and additional services that can be customised. The new fares will be progressively rolled out to all destinations for travel from March 1, 2018. On top of the new fares, travellers will be able to further personalise their journeys by purchasing à la carte services such as priority boarding, advanced seat reservation or access to the Air Serbia Premium Lounge.

• Economy White includes one piece of hand baggage weighing up to 8kg.
• Economy Blue enables travellers to check in one bag of up to 23kg, carry one piece of hand baggage, earn frequent flier miles and change flight dates for a fee.
• Economy Red offers extra flexibility with all the benefits of Economy Blue plus an inflight meal and the ability to change flight dates at no extra charge, check in at the airport and choose a seat in advance.
• Business Silver is tailored for a premium experience. As well as all the advantages of Economy Red, it includes priority check-in and fast-track at the airport, priority boarding and priority baggage handling, twice the baggage allowance (two checked bags and two carry-on bags) and access to the Air Serbia Premium Lounge at Nikola Tesla Airport.
After choosing a fare type, Air Serbia passengers can purchase additional services at any point before their journey by going through the Manage My Booking section on the airline's website. This enables travellers to mix-and-match their fare type with the extra services they require. For example, a passenger flying in Economy White can choose to buy the priority boarding service. While pricing depends on many factors, including seasonality and travel demand, travellers choosing Economy White will generally have access to a select number of seats offering lower fares compared to those available under the previous fare structure.
Air Serbia's CEO, Duncan Naysmith, said, “Technology has completely transformed the way people travel in the 21st century, and the ability to have a tailor-made travel experience has been central in this process. Unbundling the airfares will enable Air Serbia to better compete and offer more value, while retaining all its differentiating hallmarks, including the fact that we fly to primary airports, run a frequent flyer program, operate a Premium Lounge, provide seamless codeshare flight options through Belgrade and much more”.

Well we should ask their management what was the reason for this decision and why they didn't know about FR's and W6's policy.

U2 does not have weight limit for hand luggage.

DeleteAnd so what? If that snack (not always a sandwich) and a glass of beer costs me 600 eur round trip from MUC-BRU in eco light , I would rather skip it , pay a less and buy a decent meal like on BA with M&S offers

ReplyDeleteHm. That's an interesting "discount" for hand luggage only customers... A week back I bought the "classic" economy return fare BRU-BEG for 25.000 RSD (the one that still included 1 checked bag by default) and now when I checked the new "cheapest" fare for the same dates (late April) it's 23.000 RSD. Can't say I get this math. Shouldn't the difference be at least some 5000 RSD if one checked bag is approximately 25€/direction? This reminds me of pax anger when OU did the same thing with their hand baggage fares. You ended up paying 200€ for the "cheap" fare just like the one that included the bag before - only now they asked for 30€/flight more...
ReplyDeleteP.S. When can we expect ONLINE CHECK-IN from more airports in JU's network? First you pay 200€ return with no bag and then you queue at the airport with 160 passengers just to get a damn boarding pass (always the case in BRU). And in BEG when you show your mobile boarding pass the say "Nama vam to ništa ne znači" and they print the whole thing again... LOL.
That's because JU is incapable of doing anything right. I live in Copenhagen and they have some May white fares for 27.000 lol

Stop complaining....of course direct flights are more than connecting flights. Take a look at any direct flight with Lufthansa to Brussels or paris. I usually pay over 500 eur RT MIC-BRU economy light with no checked bag

Hand luggage only fare to TXL should be no more than €130. The flight is not even two hours.
DeleteIf you ask me it should be under 100 euros, but it is National carrier we talk about that used to have huge fares. Their fares dropped slightly still not enough, but I would still take it.

DeleteAir Serbia is not a low cost company. It just put further restrictions on luggage, reduces the meal options and service, reduces destinations, implements fees for some actions (like check in), reduces the size of seats...

ReplyDeleteThey did their best to antagonize Silvers in the past few months. I don't think JU really cares about FTs.
DeleteWell, to be honest, changes in Silver benefits were pushed by Etihad, not Air Serbia.
DeleteIn addition, whole program is now less attractive due to much smaller number of eligible flights for miles accrual and restrictive award policy.
I don't know is there any chance for joining some alliance (with or without Etihad), but if it stays this way it will be interesting to very limited number of people. Most of people who travel a lot from Belgrade will be doing much better with some other FF program.

DeleteEconomy Blue doesn't include "advance seat reservation" option in its price. Hovewer, I can do it later for 2,5 Euros via the booking app. Is it still possible? What happens if I wonn't booked my flight via JU's website but on mytrip.com for example? There is 62 Euro difference between blue and red's options. It is not so competitive (for me) for a short haul flight to be given a small sandwich and be able to advence my seat. But I can do it for 2,5 Euros later..if it still applies

Nešto ne razumem. Ove tarife i sve vezano za njih je rezultat proteranog direktora. Ako je on otpušten zbog sve lošijih rezultata zar onda nije logično da se preispitaju sve njegove odluke uključujući i ovu?
ReplyDeleteSo, I have checked ow ticket BNX-BEG. the cheapest fare for this route is approx. 24 EUR without checked-in bag, airport check-in and snack/drink on-board. Before the change the same ticket was 24 EUR with a bag, airport check-in and snack/drink on-board. Indeed, a new concept of service...
ReplyDeleteZa sve one koji na razumiju... Da bi se uvele takve tarife potrebna je priprema od barem godinu dana (i to ne zbog same kompanije, vec zbog Amadeusa). I onda jos mjeseci testiranja naplate dodatnih usluga. I za sve koji ovo usporedjuju sa LCC, nema nikakve slicnosti jer na stranici Air Serbia mozete kupiti karte na drugim carrierima u sklopu medju kompanijskih ugovora. Good luck Air Serbia!

ReplyDeleteTo me it's still a ripoff. Just because some other companies are also making a living off of similar logic, doesn't make it right.
BSL-BEG, Wizzair, for years back, almost always under 50 EUR in both directions, with the same aircraft and comfort, with 10Kg bag, but without checked baggage and a dodgy, kinder-size, dry meal.
And also - for someone living in Zürich, ZRH IS a "main airport". For anyone living in Basel Dreieck - it definitely isn't.
To me, with such politics, AirSerbia can stay afloat only as long as they are protected enough (and supported financially) by the Govt and keeping the competition far away, with non-open-market means.
When that goes away, they will go down and get sold for a buck. A sad story.
