NEWS FLASH

The Macedonian Prime Minister, Zoran Zaev, has officially confirmed that Skopje Alexander the Great Airport will be renamed as a gesture of goodwill towards neighbouring Greece. "We have shown our dedication. The government will change the name of the airport and highway. The majority of citizens from both countries want good and friendly relations. It is high time that we find a solution", Mr Zaev said at the World Economic Forum in Davos yesterday. While the state highway, which also bears the name of Alexander the Great, will be renamed to Friendship Highway, the government has suggested no alternative for the airport at this time. Greece's Aegean Airlines has previously said it would resume operations between Athens and Skopje this summer after more than a decade, but told EX-YU Aviation News it has conditioned its return to Macedonia on the "resolution of certain contentious issues".

Zagreb isnt controversial, It is named after founder of the modern Croatian state. Very few people in Croatia disagree on this issue...

Franjo Tudjman is ok. Would not have been my first choice but I don't know why some people think his name should be banished. He was they guy who finally made Croatia independent which the majority of Croatian supported then as they do now.

I see goodwill from Macedonia but no goodwill from Greece. They should also change the Airportname in Thessaloniki.
