Tivat Airport begins work on "temporary" terminal

Tivat Airport has begun the construction of a temporary makeshift terminal in order to deal with strong passenger growth and capacity constraints. The structure will stretch over an area of 1.300 square metres and will include six check-in desks, airline representative offices and police and customs premises. The makeshift building will also boast a baggage sorting area. “This new terminal will provide greater comfort for our passengers, faster and improved quality of service, as well as better working conditions for our employees”, the General Manager of operator Airports of Montenegro, Danilo Orlandić, said. Work on the new facility will take just 75 days to complete.

The development comes just weeks after the Montenegrin government announced that both Podgorica and Tivat airports will be given up for concession as part of a single package. In addition, the future concessionaire will be obliged to redevelop the derelict Berane Airport. The Prime Minister of Montenegro, Duško Marković, previously said, "The concession is vital in order for Tivat Airport to follow through with its plans to build a new passenger terminal, extend its runway and overhaul its taxiways". Last year, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) was set to approve a fifty million euro loan for the development of Tivat Airport, however, it requested for the Montenegrin government to guarantee the airport would remain in state hands for over a period of ten years following the completion of the expansion project. Mr Marković's administration was unable to agree to such terms.

Plans have also been made for the construction of three smaller makeshift structures at Podgorica Airport, spanning over an area of 1.000 square metres. This will include a 220 square metre extension of the departures area on the northern side of the terminal building, which will feature additional toilet facilities, as well as a smoking room, while an extra 438 square metres will be added to the arrivals area, which would allow for additional passport control booths and customs control. A third structure, covering an area of 319 square metres will be added to the VIP and general aviation gates.

To tell you the truth, during the winter they can just use the makeshift terminal, they don't have to use the main building.

I heard that Beauvais' airport is a national shame too.
I think there is a decent number of crappy terminals in Europe:

SXF, LTN, BVA, JTR, RHO, CIA.

Those Greek island airports are such a disaster, omg....3rd world!

The airport terminal looks perfectly normal, the camp begins when you leave the building to go to the gate. Gates are 300-500m on foot away from the building, with arriving and departing passengers separated by fences. The walkways are no more than 1m across, with 3m high fences on both sides.

      Seriously crazy feeling.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_busiest_airports_in_the_Former_Yugoslav_Republics

What's more is that if SKP is facing reductions, it will fall to 8th position and TGD or TIV will climb..
