TRIP REPORT

Submitted by Catarina Madureira

On the 22 of August, I had the opportunity to fly with Norwegian from Barcelona to Dubrovnik. I returned on Saturday after a great vacation in the ex-Yugoslavian countries. Both flights were operated by a Boeing 737-800.

Airline: Norwegian
Aircraft: EI-FHV Boeing 737-800 (7.3 years old)
Flight: D85690
Route: Barcelona - Dubrovnik
Class: Economy

Check-in was not available online so we had to check in at the airport. The process was really fast and we were given free baggage drop-off. The flight was at 06:35h, so the security screening and the passport check (which was needed since Croatia is not in Schengen) went pretty quickly as well.

The flight was completely full, but, in general, it was pretty good. There was no turbulence, so the flight was perfect for a nap.

One of the differences between Norwegian and its rivals is that Norwegian offers free WiFi throughout the flight. The airline works hard to ensure that everyone can enjoy the 1:30h flight scrolling through social media, watching movies, or listening to music.

One of my favorite things about Norwegian is that it allows you to see the flight path in real time. Information like the route, where the plane is, speed, altitude, and the estimated arrival time are provided live in flight.

Norwegian does not offer free meals, but they have a good menu with a variety of snacks, sandwiches, drinks, and more.

The food isn’t very expensive. I bought a water bottle and two donuts for €4.50. The quality of the food was an amazing surprise!

We left BCN with 10 mins of delay but arrived before scheduled time on Runway 12 at Dubrovnik airport.

Dubrovnik’s airport is new, final construction is expected to end in 2019, so a lot of work is still being done around the airport. There are a lot of signs to help passengers get around so its very difficult someone gets lost. We waited 15 minutes for our bags and then 45 minutes for the rental car.

Return flight details:

Airline: Norwegian
Aircraft: EI-FHS Boeing 737-800 (5.6 years old)
Flight: D85691
Route: Dubrovnik-Barcelona
Class: Economy

Like the previous flight, we checked in at the airport and got free bag dropoff.

The scheduled time of departure was 09:45h, but because of some restrictions, we departed from Runway 12 about 10 minutes late.

The seat was relatively comfortable. There is a limited legroom, which is a normal thing for low-cost airlines. For me, Norwegian’s seats are better than Ryanair’s or some Vueling’s aircraft. The configuration was the typical 3-3-3 found on the 737. The flight was almost full, but this time the Wifi connection was very weak.

After two hours of a calm flight, we arrived at cloudy Barcelona at 11:59, six minutes before the scheduled arrival time.

The best thing that in Norwegian for me is the kindness of all members of the crew, who always have a big smile and are ready to help!

I’ve already had three flights with Norwegian and so far it’s one of my favorite airlines to fly in Europe. I can not wait for the next trip!

wow had no idea. This is very generous for a low cost airline.

The free WiFi plus their lovely affordable food and drinks menu are their biggest advantages passenger-wise

I believe that norwegian is better then Ryan and the rest (I have yet to fly with them) but parts of this report reads as it was written like an advert for norwegian

"The airline works hard to ensure that everyone can enjoy the 1:30h flight scrolling through social media, watching movies, or listening to music." :D

We have flown with Norwegian year and again this year and cannot fault their service at all.

    Keep it up.
