Wizz Air to end Malmo - Niš service

NEWS FLASH


Low cost carrier Wizz Air will terminate flights between Malmo and Niš this winter season. The last services is scheduled to operate on January 7, 2019 after which ticket sales have been suspended. It is the second route the airline will be ending to the southeast Serbian city, with flights from Eindhoven discontinued in late March. Wizz Air will introduce a new three weekly service from Vienna to Niš on November 17.

    Obviously low demand. The question why there is not sufficient demand is for the local community to answer to.

      It is not the demand. They need this capacity for Vienna and Stansted. They are planning to open a base at Stansted. They are cutting everywhere in Eastern Europe, including BUD, SOF and OTP which are there biggest bases. Probably next year everything will be back to normal when they receive more planes.

    A sad day for INI.
    But the good news is that in reality only 1 weekly frequency will be lost. The 230 seater A321 will fit nicely but will be bad news for the neighbouring airports.

      INI should upgrade to category I airport first, and have a decent tower built, and then you can continue with your comparison with the neighboring airports.
      p.s.
      Even if W6 were to cancel all routes from SKP, it would still have 5 x more passengers than INI.

      The market is not for free. Unlike some airports in the region INI isn't paying airlines to fly there.

    This is an utter dissaster. Either Wizzair is losing itself (e.g. canceling PRG base vs Ryan opening additional 15 routes next year) or Belgradens took it seriously up to the task at INI. Not cool anyway.

      it could be that Wizz Air needs this capacity elsewhere... most likely in Western Europe. They did reschedule some route launches in Vienna so a reshuffle is expected.
      INI is not an isolated case, there are cuts throughout Eastern Europe. I mean if the market wasn't there then FR and LX would also be cutting flights.

      LX already confirmed that the third weekly will come back next summer.

      I think W6 will open another London base in Stansted if they are launching LJU. I wouldn't be surprised to see INI-STN replaced.

      Actually, I did some digging and MMX-INI is operated as a continuation of POZ-MMX which is being cut. Seems like this is not entirely about INI.

      POZ-MMX is not bookable, not even in summer.

      Da,po toj statistici LF je bio preko 90%. Ali opet se potvrdilo da LF nije presudan za profitabilnost linije. Ne vidim drugi razlog da je zaustave.

    On the route SKP-MMX they use A321, probably W6 won't terminate that route.

      That route is operated with SKP plane, INI was operated from POZ base which is closed.

      i dont have any statistics but there are man pax from south Serbia who use SKP
      why they prefer SKP to BEG .. the ones who use SKP could tell you
