NEWS FLASH
Low cost carrier Wizz Air will terminate flights between Malmo and Niš this winter season. The last services is scheduled to operate on January 7, 2019 after which ticket sales have been suspended. It is the second route the airline will be ending to the southeast Serbian city, with flights from Eindhoven discontinued in late March. Wizz Air will introduce a new three weekly service from Vienna to Niš on November 17.
Obviously low demand. The question why there is not sufficient demand is for the local community to answer to.
ReplyDeleteIt is not the demand. They need this capacity for Vienna and Stansted. They are planning to open a base at Stansted. They are cutting everywhere in Eastern Europe, including BUD, SOF and OTP which are there biggest bases. Probably next year everything will be back to normal when they receive more planes.
DeleteA sad day for INI.
ReplyDeleteBut the good news is that in reality only 1 weekly frequency will be lost. The 230 seater A321 will fit nicely but will be bad news for the neighbouring airports.
yeah totally... it's a total havoc in the neighboring airports because this 1 A321 at INI
DeleteAt least INI doesn't rely on 1 airline unlike other neighbouring airports....
Delete
DeleteINI should upgrade to category I airport first, and have a decent tower built, and then you can continue with your comparison with the neighboring airports.
p.s.
Even if W6 were to cancel all routes from SKP, it would still have 5 x more passengers than INI.
o_0 ok you win
DeleteSKP might have a shiny airport but must upgrade to primary destinations. Also SKP has Edelweiss and not Swiss. So, you know....
Deletetz tz
Deleteobviously the projections for 2 million in the next 5 years were not correct ;)
ReplyDeleteNow BWK has a chance to overtake ;)
Deletenot so sure about that... now QR can finally start flying to INI, with these free slots available
DeleteBig news for INI to come soon, don't you worry about a thing. Besides MMX is not like the most famous destination. Look at VXO - also dropped from SKP.
Deletesad kad je nema, odma nije famous ^^
DeleteДа је у питању потражња, Рајанер и Свис би исто тако секли линије. Могуће да је Визер под финансијским притиском па мора да реже линије које им не доносе довољно пара.
Deleteyeh right, you are never self-critical. the market just isnt there
DeleteI posted the numbers the other day, the market is actually there.
DeleteThe market for a good is always there if it is for free....
DeleteThe market is not for free. Unlike some airports in the region INI isn't paying airlines to fly there.
Deletefrom which base was this route's aircraft?
ReplyDeletePoznan
DeleteThis is an utter dissaster. Either Wizzair is losing itself (e.g. canceling PRG base vs Ryan opening additional 15 routes next year) or Belgradens took it seriously up to the task at INI. Not cool anyway.
ReplyDeleteit could be that Wizz Air needs this capacity elsewhere... most likely in Western Europe. They did reschedule some route launches in Vienna so a reshuffle is expected.
DeleteINI is not an isolated case, there are cuts throughout Eastern Europe. I mean if the market wasn't there then FR and LX would also be cutting flights.
LX already confirmed that the third weekly will come back next summer.
I think W6 will open another London base in Stansted if they are launching LJU. I wouldn't be surprised to see INI-STN replaced.
DeleteActually, I did some digging and MMX-INI is operated as a continuation of POZ-MMX which is being cut. Seems like this is not entirely about INI.
DeletePOZ-MMX is not bookable, not even in summer.
They also cut SOF-MMX, but replaced it with close by CPH.
DeleteWas Tuzla-Billund a seasonal route? I see it's no longer bookable after summer season.
DeleteSteta za liniju ali verovatno nemaju profita na njoj pa je seku. Mozda postane sezonska,ko zna?
ReplyDeletewell, there were 30k on this route last year...
Slotovi u Nisu problem :)
DeleteI thought the Vikings were fond of the authentic, Serb hospitality.
ReplyDeleteThe South has so much to offer. What a pity.
Vikings? This is/was a pure diaspora / gasto route, almost all Serbs on board.
DeleteHow do you know? Do you fly these planes? Do you have numbers or official figures?
Deleteflew the route twice this year!
DeleteNo Swedes at all??? Impossible!
DeleteI read some went to INI istead of Nice (France) by mistake but those were not from Sweden :D
Deletehaha,
DeleteSomething smells fishy in Wizz ... They are definitely focusing more on the Western Europe ...
ReplyDelete...rather Wizz smells the big Dollars in Western EU!
DeleteYou mean the Sterling pound or Euro. Since when are dollars used in "Western Europe", this is not Latin America¡
DeleteOn the route SKP-MMX they use A321, probably W6 won't terminate that route.
ReplyDeleteThat route is operated with SKP plane, INI was operated from POZ base which is closed.
DeleteGood news for SKP and its CPH flight!
ReplyDeleteand SKP - MMX <3
DeleteSKP - BCN no flights in winter ;)
Deletebut 4x MMX and 2x CHP, baby ;)
Deletevs 0
DeleteQR reduced ;)
DeleteNo VXO ;)
Less growth ;) ;)
Come on. No big drama, there is 5x from SKP which is just 2.5h away by car...
ReplyDeleteand once they finally finish the 30 km highway on "the most difficult construction site in Europe" through Grdelicka Klisura it would be even faster
Deletewhen?
DeleteWhy would they go to SKP when there are more flights from Belgrade?
Deletei dont have any statistics but there are man pax from south Serbia who use SKP
Deletewhy they prefer SKP to BEG .. the ones who use SKP could tell you
Because flights from SKP are cheaper thanks to lower handling charges and government subsidies.
DeleteHow about SOF and PRN?
DeleteIs the ILS installed at INI?
ReplyDeleteWill it get the CAT1 category,
