NEWS FLASH
British Airways will downgrade its operations between London Gatwick Airport and Dubrovnik this winter season, which begins on October 28. The airline will maintain limited operations in the coming months, operating between the two cities twice per week only between October 28 and November 5, December 10 to January 11, and from March 4 until March 23.Previously, the route was maintained throughout the winter timetable. Despite the downgrade, Dubrovnik has secured several new operators during the quiet winter months. As previously reported, these include Iberia from Madrid, SmartWings from Prague and LOT Polish Airlines from Warsaw.
Let's see if the others will follow BA in flights reduction nto DBV this winter
ReplyDeleteUmm the article just listed three airlines that are increasing flights - making them year round.
DeleteWell they might change something in the coming weeks if bookings remain weak.
DeleteAnd where did you get that bookings are weak for them to remain that way?
DeleteTime will tell you where I got them.
DeleteOh and then they will be back from 31. March to 31. October with the double daily flights :(
ReplyDeleteWish they had 2 per week but throughout the year...
Si cuo za ponudu i potraznju??
DeleteThis is worrisome, I guess it's because of Brexit.
ReplyDeleteBrexit has not even happened yet. I guess it's because Dubrovnik is extremely seasonal destination.
DeleteBA are losing a lot of business, by the downgrading of their product!
DeleteIt's because Dubrovnik turns into a ghost city during winter.
DeleteYes but people will come to see the set of Game of Thrones. I am sure someone else will step in.
DeleteThe reduction of BA is particularly funny as even in winter with much less demand of course compared to summer the fares to Croatia aren't anywhere near to 19 EUR or similar. Even in winter, those airlines flying to HR request quite high prices for often short or very short flights. You would think that yields to Croatia must be high compared to other destinations.
DeleteI think they will use the slot to increase ZAG as now they have a virtual monopoly.
DeleteActually no. Zagreb is being reduced by them in winter as well.
DeleteWhat do you mean? It's the sme as last winter.
DeleteNo they are not. There are one to two flights less each week from January to the end of March but the days change each week.
DeleteSo it will be five weekly?
DeleteSome weeks 5 some weeks 6.
DeleteJa neznam cemu cudenje. Dubrovnik is a very nice city, but definitely not a city break destination in winter. The weather could be very nice, but it could be very chilly with bora. Brits that would love to get warm in the sun, have many other warmer destinations. And btw, they are cancelling only the very slow weeks.
ReplyDeleteYes, but how lovely are the days when it is warm in Dalmatia during Winter and there is plenty of those days. No tourists just nice views over the adriatic and the incredible landscape and beautiful cities (not lets-go-to-the-beach-warm but nice warm)
