NEWS FLASH

Russian flag carrier Aeroflot will introduce a second daily flight between Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport and Ljubljana at the start of the 2020 summer season. The second daily service will launch on March 29, departing the Russian capital at 21.30. The return flight will leave Jože Pučnik Airport at 00.40, arriving in Moscow at 04.50. Both daily operations will be maintained with the Airbus A320 aircraft. Aeroflot introduced daily services between the two cities just over a year ago, on October 28, 2018.

New Adria will use Superjets according to my information and will fly to DME on daily base.

The flight was daily and on quite often they had to send two CRJs or a CRJ and an A319 together, back to back, as the demand was that high. This was obsviously before Aeroflot was flying.

It seems Adria was a big hindrance on this route since Russians mostly did not want to fly with Adria because of the baggage restraints.

I highly doubt this is because of Fraport; SU is merely trying to capture passengers that used to fly with adria/lh group.

SU is for LJU what QR and EK are for ZAG. They cater for the Asian pax.

I think LJU should be satisfied with the numbers of airline serving the city: 3 daily LH, double daily AF SU JU and TK plus LX SN TS AY EZY WIZZ YM LO and some seasonal TU KM LY NH BA flights. They hve daily access to important hubs such as IST FRA MUC ZRH and CDG. I personally hope that SK will launch flights plus seasonal Spain flights either MAD or BCN maybe with IB

Small correction, JU is 17 weekly from BEG, not double daily. To be even more specific JU is 19 weekly if we include INI as well. They are the second most frequent operator there after LH.

Well, compare LJU SUTT 2018 and SUTT 2019 with that crazy non-sense JP expansion.

At least the routes are being replaced and the existing ones are not cancelled.

Good news for LJU passengers as there will be more competition between Star Alliance and Skyteam.

Numbers for LJU-SVO are not bad.

    01-05.2018: 17.250 passengers.
    01-05 2019: 28.692 passengers.

For comparison's sake, TK had 49.703 passengers in the first five months of the year. I suppose SU will come close to the TK numbers with the second daily flight.

oh it can't be. they said...they said LJU nad SLO as a whole has descneded into a interplanetary black hole and was cut off from any form of living cohabitation on this planet and won't see daylight anymore. Ah yes, two nephew pilots and two nieces stewardesses need jobs max 5km from home.

Well truth be told this addition isn't necessarily related to Adria's demise. Remember that SU started strong in Slovenia from day one. Their planned SSJ service was soon replaced with the A320.

was referring to the wiseasses who claim that without adria everything is doomed and LJU is the nex MBX with 10 passengers per year and that the market won't sort things out. If there is demand supply will follow - market economics 101, and not the other way around as they would like to create supply for nonexistant demand or not sufficient demand because we need national carrier for flying into some balkan airports and cater for transfers with taxpayer money.

Yes, wonders of the "bad" free market. I think that in about a year when all regional readjustments by big companies are made we will see what is the true potential of the Slovenian market and evaluate what kind of distortion Adria was (at the expense of Slovenian people) or were times truly better with Adria.
