NEWS FLASH

Saudi Arabian low cost carrier flynas will introduce seasonal flights between Qassim and Sarajevo this summer. Services will operate three times per week, each Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, starting May 25. The route will complement flynas’ existing seasonal flights from Riyadh and Jeddah to Bosnia and Herzegovina’s capital. Tickets can be purchased directly through the airline's website, although the majority of seats will be taken up by tour operator Shiddi Tourism, a subsidiary of the Al Shiddi group which also owns the Sarajevo-based FlyBosnia. FlyBosnia itself also runs flights between Bosnia and Herzegovina’s capital and Qassim, in central Saudi Arabia, over the summer. Established in 2007, flynas boasts a fleet of thirty Airbus A320 aircraft, operating over 1.200 flights per week. Further details for its new service can be found here.

This is crazy! Is SJJ normal? It's going to be easier to reach Sarajevo from Gassim and Qassim than from Paris, think about it.

There is no enough pax for flights to Paris. Bosnian people are not turist and they are not traveling to Europe, only to Turkey, but arabian people coming to Bosnia during the summer, so this is good move from Flynas, the will have very good load factor from Qassim.

What a ridiculous argument there are more Bosnians outside of Bosnia than in it, people could be flying from all over to SJJ except for the fact that it is ridiculously expensive airport and so has few flights that cater to rich arab tourists. For that reason many Bosnians fly to neighboring Dubrovnik or Split then drive across the border. It is not by accident and just because of a lack of demand that SJJ is the worst connected capital city airport in Europe

Haha “Bosnian people are not tourists”? Are you serious?! I wonder who is using all these summer charters from SA, TZ, and BL then? Who is flying on city break destinations with Wizz? What a stupid comment.

i have heard about this "Sarajevo expensive" talk a lot in news on this site whenever something about SJJ gets mentioned. what exactly do people mean by that?

compared to other capital city airports in the region what is the difference?

There's a huge demand but some people are just jealous that everyone can afford a LCC flight at least once per year.
The Middle East mania is a matter of demand and offer, European destinations are getting introduced too, it's just harder to negotiate a proper profitable route to European airports compared to these Middle Easterners that can easily have 90+% load factor on their flights and hit an easy jackpot.

no need to go to Paris, europe is poor, overcrowded with airlines comparing to Middle East. I bearly think that there is need to make accent on EU destinations.
