Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport reopened for commercial air traffic on May 12, however, flights are yet to be reintroduced to the Slovenian capital. Carriers are beginning to schedule their service resumption to the airport with Brussels Airlines becoming the latest to confirm its return. The Belgian carrier will reintroduce flights to Ljubljana on June 29 with a three weekly service. Prior to that, Air Serbia will restart its operations to Slovenia on May 29, while Air France will return on June 24, with two weekly flights. Low cost carrier Wizz Air has scheduled its service resumption from Charleroi to Ljubljana for June 16 with flights to be maintained three times per week.

Lufthansa is expected to reinstate its operations to the Slovenian capital in the second half of June. The airline has said it will outline its network for June 15 onwards at the end of the week. Meanwhile, Slovenia’s busiest carrier, easyJet, plans to restore its flights from London Gatwick and Stansted on July 1. The airline has cancelled its intention on launching services from Luton Airport to Ljubljana, while its flights from Berlin are currently scheduled to resume at the start of the of the 2020/2021 winter season on October 25. British Airways has delayed the resumption of its seasonal operations from London Heathrow. Services, which were initially to commence on May 22, will now restart on July 1.

Finnair has suspended its seasonal flights between Helsinki and Ljubljana for the whole of 2020. Services to the Slovenian capital are now scheduled to resume on March 29, 2021. Initially, prior to the coronavirus Covid-19 pandemic, the airline planned to increase operations to Ljubljana from five weekly to daily this summer. Other carriers, which are now starting to rebuild their networks, are yet to officially confirm the date of their return to Ljubljana. Operator Fraport Slovenija said last week that a number of airlines are yet to respond to their queries regarding their service resumption. Prior to the onset of the coronavirus, this year’s summer season was to see Ljubljana being served by seventeen airlines from 22 cities in fifteen countries.

    Interesting that JU is the first one to return, good for them. I am surprised how low of a priority LJU is for LH Group though.

    So, Air Serbia will be the only airline flying to / from LJU for more than 2 weeks?

      Amazing.

      Last year when Adria passed away Air Serbia offered the best connections for passengers who lost their JP flights and introduced extra frequencies and now we have the situation that for more than 2 weeks only Air Serbia's planes will fly to LJU.

      Respect.

      Charity :-))

      Air Serbia positioned itself on Slovenian market as reliable company that reacts quickly in the extra ordinary situations.

      Contrary to some other companies clearly showing how Slovenian market is insignifact for them.

      Its going to take many months, if not years for airlines to rebuild their 2019 networks. Some will do it faster than others. JU will by mid June already return to roughly 50% of their destinations, and probably by next year would be close to their 2019 level.

      There was always some form of demand for BEG-LJU flights without considering the transfer traffic. Point is, JU will have the upper hand in a few regional markets. Priority for many wont be to outcompete other airlines. We saw last year JU react really well to various events in our region such as JP and KK going bankrupt, corona virus should be no different.

      @10,56

      There is no shame for LJU being an important market for JU. The city is in their home region after all. It would be stupid to allow others an opportunity to grow or dominate on your home area by being passive. JU certainly isnt going to find North America or Asia as a cruitial market, itll be their home region.
