The CEO of Ryanair, Eddie Wilson, has said the planned new base of its subsidiary Lauda in Zadar is “not going ahead”. Initially, the Ryanair Group announced the opening of the base would be postponed until next year due to the coronavirus Covid-19 pandemic, however, those plans have now been dropped. Mr Wilson noted that the three aircraft destined for Zadar would go to Dublin instead. The Ryanair Group has discontinued the sale of flights from Zadar to Aarhus, Budapest, Bremen, Cork, Dublin, Eindhoven, Frankfurt, Gdansk, Gothenburg, Hamburg, Kaunas, Krakow, London, Liverpool, Maastricht, Manchester, Marseille, Memmingen, Nuremberg, Paris, Riga, Stockholm, Toulouse and Wroclaw. The Ryanair Group was expected to handle some 672.000 passengers in Zadar this year.

I wish this was not true. Goes from bad to worse.

ReplyDeleteIf ZAD gets 300K passangers this year it can celebrate. Quite a drop from 800+K lasz year. No other airport in exYu got hit as hard.

DeleteMaybe it will also be a good thing for Zadar... ? People should make money otherwise than mass tourism !

Lauda is owned by RA, hence that is RA's decision. Is the in Vienna closure confirmed?
