NEWS FLASH

The construction of Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport’s new 75-metre control tower is gaining pace with the project to be completed by August of next year. The concrete foundations of the four-level tower are now being laid next to the existing air traffic control centre, opened in 2010. A two-level flight control centre will be built at the base of the tower and linked to the air traffic control centre. The facility will stretch over an area of 7.500 square metres. The existing control tower at Belgrade Airport, built in 1962, will be closed and repurposed following the completion of the new facility in a year’s time.

The whole area is a big construction site, on top of the ATC tower the terminal expansion is also rapidly progressing. They have already begun the construction of the third floor on the western end. Once that expansion and the tower are completed the whole complex will look quite nice.

I think the private jet space is being moved all the way east, right when you turn right from Ledine onto the side road that takes you to the airport.
In that space I suppose they will add more remote stands because they moved those rusty old planes to the museum and are cementing the grassy areas.

Maybe they will use this space for cargo planes so that the B platform can be used for regular, passenger planes?

Do you know what will happen with old ATC tower? It seams like nice place for observation deck or resturant.

      nemjee,
If you think they will move private jet apron on the east of Jat tehnika i think you are wrong. There are some construction works on the east of Jat tehnika but i think they are building there some sort of temporary road for the construction of inserted runway, if i understood you right

No idea but I think it was reported on here that it will be repurposed so I suppose it will become a restaurant. That would be pretty epic if you ask me.

Jatovac, the area I am referring to is very large. It's all the way at the end/beginning of the runway, located between the taxiway and the access road from Ledine. It's not where the inserted runway is supposed to be. Personally I think it's a good idea to separate GA from the rest.

It would be great if they could turn the old air control tower into a restaurant/café, and viewing area. Imagine the planespoting possibilities.

Have you been to control tower? There is no room up there for a restaurant. No room for a proper coffee shop either.

    Radovan, Sydney. 😀✈

Anon 07:12.
      Prijatno leto, i svako doro
