Low cost carrier Wizz Air, which is to launch flights between Sarajevo and London Luton on June 14 will operate the service for just four weeks, until July 12, before suspending the route until November 1. A route that does not have enough people interested. And FlyBosnia failed with that route.

Anonymous 10:34 FlyBosnia has had problems selling off tickets, delays in wages, layoffs and shortages of workers, debts and rather poor management since the start of business. They put tickets on sale seven days before the first flight, and they didn't have good marketing. They just couldn't sell off the flights. More than 15,000 UK tourists came to BiH in 2019, so there are enough people to use the Luton-Sarajevo line. Consider that WIZZ has been well established on London-Luton (but also in Europe in general) for many years and that their way of doing business is very good. Certainly London is a good transfer centre and one of the centres of the world. This line can boost BiH-UK relations and bring in many more tourists. Also, Sarajevo would be the only city in BiH linked to the UK in many years. A minor "problem" on this line is that visas for BiH citizens are very expensive for the UK, so the travellers will mostly be tourists and businessmen from the country. We should definitely wait for this corona thing to calm down, so only then will it be seen how it really works. This is my opinion, of course, maybe I'm wrong.

UK now is further away even from EU, some citizens were refused to enter, what to speak about BiH etc. i barely believe there will be strong demand. Good thing to focus on Warsaw, Bucharest, Belgrade maybe...

This is exactly why countries need flag carriers who can provide a reliable service. Just wait and see Ryanair drop routes from Zagreb in years to come. As far as Luton to Sarajevo flights are concerned, there would be a lot of demand, but having to have 4 Covid tests on a return trip plus quarantine for 10 days is the real problem here. Also a lot of the Bosnian community live in the Midlands and further North of the UK and it's easier to fly from Birmingham or Manchester and connect in Vienna or Frankfurt to Sarajevo and just as cheap as a Wizz Air flight. For those in London Gatwick would be a better choice then Luton.

Business as usual at Wizz. Big announcements followed by quiet cancellations.
