NEWS FLASH

Montenegro’s former national carrier Montenegro Airlines, which is undergoing bankruptcy proceedings, has filed a lawsuit against the country’s new flag carrier Air Montenegro over its usage of the same, or similar, logo and trademark. The case was filed by Montenegro Airlines’ bankruptcy administrator. “Montenegro Airlines operated flights under its universally recognisable eagle-shaped logo and trademark. The plaintiff is the holder of the trademark usage rights which is registered with the Intellectual Property Office. The company is in the process of renewing its ownership rights”, the lawsuit states. The state-owned Air Montenegro previously said its predecessor’s logo was “outstanding” which is why it selected a modified version as its new trademark.

But isn't the government owner of both business entities? Basically it would be like one government agency suing another. You should not air your dirty laundry like that.

A serious bankruptcy administrator has no other choise as to do so. He is obliged to the former Montenegro Airlines creditors and unpaid bills. He has to do as much as possible to pay off the debts. So this is NOT a telenovela, but how a justice and correctness has to work.

No, actually, since the owner is the same, all obligations of former company are still active with the same owner. So, the debt pays state of Montenegro, anyway.
My guess would be, somebody is hunting to relive the state of some money for personal gain, - of legislators and all that will be a part of this charade.
