NEWS FLASH

Air Serbia is planning to operate charter flights to Dubai to cater for increased demand for the upcoming Expo 2020 taking place in the Emirati city from October. The announcement was made by the Serbian Minister for Trade and Tourism, Tatjana Matić. According to Ms Matić, flights will be free of charge for those exhibiting at the Serbian pavilion in Dubai. Air Serbia has been considering introducing scheduled flights to the United Arab Emirates. Due to increased demand, Flydubai, which maintains services between the two cities, will double its operations to two daily flights starting October 31. Expo 2020 takes place from October 1, 2021 until March 31, 2022.

Nice that they're going after this market, but only after someone has already proven it to be very successful. Hope they send the A330 as well.

Unless they get additional A330’s then it won’t happen. Any new A330 will go to Far East or to the west.

JU previously served DXB and left just prior to FZ starting in 2011. It was said to be one of the more profitable routes of JU at the time.

Besides, you don't go after a market with a few charters.

That was the time when their fleet started to fall apart and they didn't have enough plane for such a long rotation. FZ was already planning on entering BEG as JU's one stop option was never a serious long-term solution for EK.

Perfect way to test the possible new line that they have in mind, hopefully with the big bird.

Nice way to pump money into JU. What is the other reason to pay for those that are exhibiting in the pavilion? Pretty sure the price paid by the state well exceeds fares charged by Flydubai on this route.

Pretty sure you work for Flydubai. But I don't have any evidence, just like you not having any evidence that price is higher. If you can say that, I can say this.

Simple logic is enough. Why do they want to pay fares for other people? They cannot do PSO to Dubai, so this idea, but I do not care.

      @16,13

Your comment definitely says you don't live in Serbia.

I don't remember the government offering free tickets to MXP for Expo, why now?

Over inflated prices in JU isn't a new concept.

Do not pretend that you do not understand. The overinflated price will apply only to fares paid by the government.

A milion euro here, couple of milion euro there and it makes a difference.

Millions and millions? Do you have any clue how many thousands of people officially exhibiting there is needed to make millions and millions in profit? OMG did you learn math from this guy:

Not sure if it is a good idea for ASL charters. Better try Jordan or Israel instead:

Meh I am bored of their half measures. Wizz is increasing AUH to 3 and FZ Dubai to 14. Meanwhile JU will operate a few charters.

Air Serbia if contacting travel agents from the Arab countries could do charters to everywhere in the Arab world .
