NEWS FLASH

The construction of Sarajevo Airport’s new terminal building is entering its final phase, with work expected to be completed this year. The new building is spread out over four floors and 10.000 square metres. It will feature twelve check-in desks, five gates and one glass air bridge, which has already been mounted and connected to the building. The airport’s two existing airbridges will be replaced to match the newly installed one. The new facility is linked to the existing terminal to form a single functioning unit with the capacity to handle two million passengers per year. The airport is in the process of setting up a new automated Baggage Handling System. Work on the expansion of the airport’s apron is also ongoing. Once completed, it will boast eleven aircraft parking positions, up from the current seven. As a result, Sarajevo Airport’s handling capacity will be increased by 60%. It will be accompanied by extensive work on the airport’s electrical installations and sewerage. In the coming period, the airport plans to extend its runway by 550 metres. It has already purchased 60.000 square metres of land to do so and has begun clearing the terrain.

Wow, it looks amazing. Except for ceiling, will they cover it?

No. If you look carefully, you could see, everything is black, that means- it will be visible. Otherwise, the installations would be silver-alumni style.

I love the ceiling, its industrial and edgy. Was not expecting to look this good, great job SJJ. I'm only afraid they should start planning the next expansion as 2M pax will be met by end of the decade if not earlier. In case they retained Wizz they would likely go to 1.5M in 2023.

It seams that Rayan Air will establish base. SJJ announced that they will work 24/7 as well.

This looks modern (not so pretty in my opinion, more like shopping mall but that's just taste). But it does look like new spacious airport, much much better than expected.

Veoma pristojno izgleda terminal, materijali deluju zadovoljavajuće. Nije na nivou Zagreba, ali svakako deluje zategnuto. Plafonu su mogli imati možda neku spuštenu crnu rešetku, kao što je u BEG na novom delu, ali ni ovako nije loše.
