NEWS FLASH
Air Montenegro will introduce flights from Podgorica to Sarajevo, as well as from Bosnia and Herzegovina’s capital to Tirana during the summer. Services from Montenegro will be maintained on a scheduled basis, while flights to Tirana will run as regular charters. Operations will commence on June 19 and operate once per week, each Monday, from Sarajevo to both the Albanian and Montenegrin capitals, until September 18. Sarajevo has never had scheduled flights to Tirana, while services to Podgorica will be restored after over five years. Flydubai maintained operations between the two cities during the 2017/2018 winter season and held fifth freedom traffic rights on the route.
There are only 172 kms in straight line between Podgorica and Skopje. Do flights make any sense?
ReplyDeleteYou mean Sarajevo?
DeleteHave you tried driving that route?
DeleteYes. I meant Sarajevo.
DeleteNo, I haven't.
DeleteIt's for people with suicidal tendencies ...
DeleteE Izete, baš me nasmeja!
DeleteThe road is sooo bad
DeleteWell, if you haven't driven it you should try, it's easy 4-6 hours depending on season.
DeleteAren't they building some highway from Sarajevo to Podgorica or was that to Belgrade?
DeleteI’ve driven from Ostrog to Bijeljina… once was enough. It was in a bus so maybe cars are not as bad but that’s not a drive you want to do regularly.
Deletea highway to Bosnia is being built in Serbia. One connecting Bijelina to Srem another one connecting Užice to Sarajevo
DeleteMontenegro keeps winning!
ReplyDeleteSo, TGD-SJJ complementing charter operations from SJJ to TIA.
ReplyDeleteit lasts for 3 months only while they have an available plane.
DeleteMaybe they have the same plan for Ljubljana as well, a couple of W rotations per week? Prague should work well with e95
ReplyDeleteonly if they can get LJU-XXX as charter operations, as it would be easier to get necessary documentation to fly within EU. Otherwise, they would need EU AOC.
Delete5th freedom rights could be an option as well? Or operating under different callsign - partner with Amelia for example and operate the flights under Amelia
DeleteProfitability Booster!
ReplyDeleteWho would of thought Air Montenegro would be turning into the regional leader? Bravo!
ReplyDeleteTotally agree. Their ambitions are usually very quiet and well organised. Interesting carrier.
DeleteI love how Air MNE is finding new markets and alternatives for the lost Russian market and quietly growing without too much noise. Their strategy seems correct and efficient.
ReplyDeleteHave you seen their financial results?
DeleteStill, much lower compared to the others receiving endless government aid. Also, this is a new carrier.
DeleteDo you realise how much aid Air Montenegro gets? Do you realise last year they announced they were on the brink of bankruptcy and needed government aid immediately, not to mention the loss is huge for an airline with 2 planes and less than 10 routes.
DeleteI like your sarcasm...
DeleteAno@12:07 Do tell how much MNE gets aid? Govt was not helping at all....

None of those routes have any earning potential. Anzur will push this airline deeper in debt. EU will object subsidies. Airline will close. LH Group will boost connectivity from TIV and TGD to their hubs. Lowcosters will boost other routes. Germany will eventually manage airports. Montenegro government will start providing subsidies to other carriers. Foreign charters will bring tourists during the season. Germany keeps winning.
ReplyDeleteCharters have earning potential
DeleteJust because it's a charter doesn't mean it will have customers in the long term. If charter was a solution for everything there would a charter for Maribor-Osijek route.
DeleteMontenegro Airlines operated Tuzla-Vienna charters a few years ago and failed miserably
DeleteSo Air Montenegro receives subsidies from the MNE gov to operate SJJ-TIR?
ReplyDeleteHow about connecting TIV & TGD with points in Europe?
sounds like the Adria scenario.
DeleteThat is a ridiculous statement! Where do you get such information, jeez....
DeleteProsto ne mogu da vjerujem da ce ljudi u sred sezone dati jedan avion (od ukupno 2) da radi nepredvidivo i neanalizirano Sarajevo.
ReplyDeleteZa neverovati.
DeleteDoes anyone have any info on the potential new carrier which was supposed to set up a base? Is it going to happen in summer?
ReplyDeleteThere was an article at the local portal that negotiations with one company failed - https://www.klix.ba/biznis/privreda/koja-aviokompanija-ce-letjeti-iz-sarajeva-i-sta-se-desava-sa-ugovorom-o-baziranju-aviona/230517033
DeleteOdd routing ,
ReplyDeleteCould it be that it was demanded by government coalition parties ?
I mean those representing ethnic minorities .
I think just selling tickets for TGD-SJJ which would otherwise be empty positioning flight for this TIA charter. That's all
DeleteMeanwhile they lost their dominance on the Tivat-Belgrade route .
DeleteIt was their ca$h cow and now they only have one (!) lousy daily flight .
How can they hand over all that ca$h to their competition i dont get it ..
ca$h flow is not the problem
DeleteThey could fly 24/7 Tivat-Belgrade back and forth and earn a giant $hi+load of money with it .
DeleteMaximum profitability achieved .
Probably the most profitable ex-yu route of all times !
No one can fly TIV 24/7 as runaway is closes after sunset.
DeleteSarajevo to Tirana? Really? Who's going to fly on that route?
ReplyDeleteTourist groups from BIH
DeleteSo many people from Sarajevo and sourandings are having vacations in Albania, instead of too expensive Croatia last years.
Deleteaitlines?
ReplyDeletesirlines?
bro c'mon, spell check.
You mean Air Montenegro, dude? Get a grip bro...
ReplyDeleteI think their next step will be to restore the once TGD-LIS route:
ReplyDeletehttps://www.exyuaviation.com/2020/01/montenegro-airlines-schedules-lisbon.html
It makes sense to also bring Portuguese tourists to MNE. The schedule was really good at the time. Time will show...
At 4hr drive, I question this route.
