Wizz Air schedules new Skopje service

NEWS FLASH

Low cost carrier Wizz Air has scheduled a new route from its Skopje base, with three weekly services to Salzburg to commence from April 1. Wizz had previously won a tender for state subsidies for the launch of four new routes out of the Macedonian capital - Ljubljana, Luxembourg, Salzburg and Stuttgart. In September, the carrier launched operations to the Slovenian capital, with Luxembourg to follow next month. Flights to Stuttgart are yet to be scheduled. Wizz Air previously operated between Skopje and Salzburg. The service commenced in the summer of 2020 during the coronavirus pandemic but was discontinued after just one flight as Austria banned entry from a number of countries in the Balkans, including Macedonia. Flights were not restored thereafter. Further flight details can be found here.

The route cant go back to twice a week, their summer schedule is not done yet. Also, this season the flights are operated with A320 which is 540 seats per week one-way, if the route is twice a week next summer it will be A321 and 460 seats. Not a big difference, although the flights will be three weekly.

      Big boom

      Delete
    11. Anonymous13:21

You can see it both postive or negative. But a year ago there weren't flights to LJU and now there are. So overall very postive progress. Eindhoven and Colonge will be increased with 3 frequencies to daily. Paris Beauvais from 2 to 3. Malta also an extra frequency. Dordmund from 7 to 9. Due to change airport to Rome Ciampino from March Rome will be decreased with 1. Berlin will go from 5 to 7 frequncies so might not be a big boom but defenitly growth.

      Delete
    12. Anonymous14:11

You can check the LF when purchsing a ticket to or from LJU, at the step where u choose your seat for the flight. I do that a fee hours before the flight and something its even sold out so no option to buy a ticket. Also for the guy who said LOL, we are talking about facts here not imaginations. The boom is even this year as the airport has 30% increase compared to pre-pandemic levels while some airports like LJU are still giving statements about the recovery of the traffic which is funny.

      Delete
    13. Anonymous16:02

Ok, I thought there were some official statistics or something, with all this demand I wonder why they're not deploying A321 on this route, what a shame. Also if LJU's only competitor was PRN like SKP I highly doubt they would be at the state they are at now, there's no comparison.

      Delete
    14. Anonymous16:47

Official statistics are published only for September, so only inaugural flight. According to statistics LF was 97%.

      Delete
    15. Anonymous18:04

@16.02 hah the myth of LJU having too many competitors and the myth that PRN is a competitor with SKP.

LJU is where it is because of the slovenian market and not because of neighbouring airports. Speaking of SKP there are are stronger airports in the neighbourhood like SKG or SOF compared to everthing you can find around LJU which actually has only VCE

      Delete
    16. Anonymous18:47

But you are forgeting something. SKP is not still in recovery, its having new records. We will talk when LJU reaches some reasonable results. Official statistics? So what i am lying to you? Go and check like i told and you will see, belive it or dont believe it, there is demand for the route. Nonsense

      Delete
    17. Anonymous20:09

@18:04 Yes, everything is myth as long as it doesn't suit you. We know how easily reachable SKG and SOF are with North Macedonian roads and borders compared to how VCE, TSF, TRS, ZAG are for LJU. And imagine if SKP was as close to Germany and Switzerland like LJU is would all your gastos fly as much as they do to SKP, no chance. Comparing LJU is SKP is beyond illogical, but I know it makes you feel more secure about your gasto central airport so you need to make up all kinds of examples.

Yeah thats why SKP has FCO, MXP, VCE, BLQ, FRA, ZRH, VIE, CGN, HAM, BER, CPH, GOT, WAW, VIE, ATH and winter flights to Antalya and Izmir. Lots of workers are going every day everywhere, we dont travel, no no no. For the rest of the routes, yes they are small airports but at least people have direct flight, they dont have to go to one of the 10 main hubs of Europe in order to catch another flight. BEG also has lots of routes to Germany but no one is talking about that. If thinking that SKP is a gastro airport makes your day, congrats!

13:27 We need to be realistic; SKP, SJJ, and TGD are not the most attractive destinations for KLM and Transavia. But they can definitely work. However, if you are only allowed to start a few destinations per year, of course, KLM and Transavia are going to look to other options so they can increase frequencies on well-performing flights or start new destinations that have better traffic than these ex-Yugoslavian cities. I think this applies to every business; if you are not allowed to do unlimited business, you are going to wait for customers with big cash instead of customers with less cash.

If the Dutch government stops with these rules, it will also be interesting for KLM or Transavia to start routes that generate smaller profits. And I think that SKP, SJJ, and TGD could benefit from this.

Skopje and Belgrade have the highest records this year as well as Air Serbia, bravo for them. Zagreb is stagneiting, while poooooorrrrr LJU is still in the recovery process aawww so pathetic in 2023, but dont worry the market will reach the records in 2019 in 2025 with some prayers to god. IDK why everyone here are so trigged when something good is spreading around for SKP. They always use the same two reasons: the gastro routes ( even though there are many main airports in the network ) and that we pay for evrything thats why we have it. But hear me out: even if these two nonsense reasons are true, that does not change the fact that skp is having record pax numbers. Dont ask me on what i am, i am totally okay but it wont harm you if you keep your nonsense to yourself sometimes.

It's good to hear that there are more routes from the airport in Skopje, but an airport that is not reachable by public transport is a WORTHLESS airport. The bus from the bus station to the airport goes only a few times per day. Us from cities other than than Skopje can't reach it. We have to find private transport from Facebook groups. TAV should increase the amount of buses to the airport. I haven't heard of an airport that is unreachable by public transport. Unthinkable!

What the hell are yon on? Where can you find an airport which is reachable from every freking selo and provincija? You have buses from every city to Skopje and from there on you can find manora to the airport. What do you want? Rule turs or JSP to take you from your home? Just name me an airport which is connected with every other city in the country. I havent been to one yet!

      Delete
    2. Anonymous22:44

Well your comment certainly shows that you would not use the bus, since you are obviously privileged enough and you think that you can offend people that live in other cities :). What I want is regular PUBLIC transport to the airport. Not with Rule, Mule or other private companies. I can take a bus to Skopje, but there is a bus to the airport 4-5 times per day, which is funny. The airport is not reachable to people from other cities. If you have gone to so many airports, you would be the first person to say that public transport is important. Not only did you not say this, but you said what you said. There is no transport from the airport to the bus station in Skopje. I suppose that is acceptable to you, but is it like that in foreign airports?

@22:55 He havent been in Skopje thats why he doesnt know. For your information @22:44 There is a bus from Holiday Inn which pass trough Zheleznichka ( oh sorry bus station ) as well as Biser in Aerodrom. That bus passes more then 4-5 times per day, to be more precisse, it passes 8 times per day, almost every three hours. The company which runs the bus is in cooperation with Wizz, Pegasus and Turkish so you have a bus for your W6 flight ( i assume you fly Wizz since 60% of the market is theirs ). Even if you dont fly Wizz, the bus schedule is perfect for every flight, it wont kill you if arrrive at the airport earlier then you should. Also, i have used the bus many times, so you are wrong. In your comment you were talking about direct transport from other cities to the airport. The airport is very much reacheble from Skopje. If you were talking about public transport in other countries then yes, there is public bus in Nis, there is marconi express in Bologna as well as public buses, there are buses in Venice and Treviso, there are buses in Malmo and trains in Copenhagen, public bus in Bari, Malta and so on. But remember that Skopje Airport is not located in the city but 30min highway drive, which is not the case in the airports i named above. In Bologna, you can reach the center by 45min walk, in Skopje that is not possible. So dont expect JSP to drive on the highway so that you can have better transport. Oh and please, i am sorry if you find provinija offensive, but its okay as most people does. The real problem is that our nation is always complaining about everything, but never tries to change something. Just complain, complain, complain…No effect dear. Good night

The last bus is at 6 pm 😂😂😂. Please tell me how to reach the bus station in Skopje, if my flight lands at 8 or 10 pm. I am very curious about your options.

      Delete
    8. Anonymous11:51

Honestly, I don't care whether the airport is located on a highway or on a local village road. I expect JSP to drive 40 minutes. Why? Because I have driven for an hour from the airport to the nearest city. They are usually in the middle of nowhere, as is Skopje airport. Public transport is a necessity and the lack of reliable transport from and to the airport is the direct reason why many many many people from the nearby cities here have NEVER flown. These people have never flown and people near the airport have flown a lot. I think that is stupid, just because there is no bus. My friends must be picked up by parents at 8 pm 10 pm because there is no bus to the center!

Let's say that I'd use the bus. If the time is incompatible, I should wait for the bus for TWO HOURS, then drive for 40 minutes and only then catch a bus to my city, if there is any. That is the real situation. Anyone that says that public transport is not necessary or that it's impossible, has not been in this situation. I ask you to imagine to land at this time and reach your home. The airport can have direct flights to Bali, but if I can't reach the center, and instead have to taxi a taxi to the pay toll and wait like a hooker for the bus to pick me up from the pay toll, it beats the purpose for the airport.

    9. Anonymous12:22

@11:41 the last bus is at 18h yes but from THE CITY TO THE AIRPORT, as the last flight of the day usually departs at 21h to Budapest, Istanbul or Zurich. Check more carefully, there is option from Airport to Skopje and there are buses at 23:45 and 02AM, which is perfect for both, flights which land before midnight and those from Vienna, Belgrade and other from Wizz around 1AM.

No matter how much you native Skopje people offend, it does not change the fact that when you go outside of the airport, the taxis ask for 3000 denari. What is 30 minutes to you, to someone is two or three hours. Next time you are happy about the lack of transport, think of my friends that have to get picked up by their parents, because there was never a bus from the airport. Especially not if it lands at 10 pm. I want you to imagine reaching a city that is several hours away. How would you get from the airport? I am very curious. I may even use your option. So please tell me

What the hell??? No airport has buses to other cities? You cant find bus from Milan Malpensa to Pisa? Are you normal? Of course your parents will pick you up, i would do the same if i have to fly from Ohrid, Sofia, Pristina or Solun. I dont understand how can you ask for smth this stupid? We can not do bus station at ate airport with buses to every small village so that you have direct transport. If i was you, i would pick the bus from the airport to the train station and from there on continue with train or bus, thats why the airport shuttle stops at the bus station. You should be happy that you have direct flight from Skopje, its more then enough, believe me.

I agree! I am very happy that we have direct flights from Skopje. But I should not have to wait several hours for a bus. And the bus from Makedonski Brod or Krushevo should stop at the airport. Flixbus. Even if it doesn't, I am not going to wait for several hours in hope that eventually, a bus from the airport would come. It may be acceptable for you, but I it is not acceptable for me, nor for people from Makedonski Brod or Makedonska Kamenica

The last bus is at 6 pm 😂😂😂. Please tell me how to reach the bus station in Skopje, if my flight lands at 8 or 10 pm. I am very curious about your options.

because you are an idiot trolling for two days now. In the link that you posted there is a schedule for buses back to the city throughout the evening with the last one at 2am to accomodate the after midnight arrivals.

keep on using those smileys though they suit you very well

Bravo @13:46! I got tired from expaining the same thing over and over again just because two guys wants to have direct transport from their village and think that everywhere is like they imagined. Maybe there is a bus for you from Hahn to FRA or from Karlsruhe to Stuttgart, but our airport is in Skopje not in Shtip. Macedonians…always complain about everything but never hesitate to change something, and at the end of the day everything is fine. Please go to Europe and never come back, in that way nor your parents or the bus will have to pick you up. Thank you
