NEWS FLASH
Aegean Airlines is upgrading its seasonal summer flights between Athens and Ljubljana to year-round operations in 2024. The carrier will restore services between the two capitals on April 5 of next year and will continue operating the route past October into the 2024/25 winter season, twice per week. Tickets have now been put on sale up until the 2025 summer season. However, changes and modifications remain possible at this early stage. Aegean Airlines introduced flights between the two cities this June and maintained operations until mid-October.
Maybe not the biggest deal but still good news for those of us living in Ljubljana.

So because they flew "empty" according to you in summer 2023 they will add winter flights next year? Not to mention they will fly from April instead of June as this year. The logic lol.
DeletenotLufthansa is spreading false facts. A3 route to Ljubljana was a success, with LF beyond 80%. Their plan is to increase summer frequency, but not in 2024 (lack of capacity due to neo engine issues).
DeleteThey need to upgrade frequencies as well, last summer flights were packed so there is demand. 3 or 4 weekly would be great and would allow more transfers via ATH!
ReplyDeleteGive them time. SKP was operated with a turboprop 2 or 3 weekly and now it is 6 weekly again with a turboprop. LJU is now finally waking up and 2024 looks good.
DeleteAegean's NEOs have Pratt engines. So next year the fleet situation will be tight as 10 aircraft will have to be grounded for a long period of time so that the fix can be implemented to the engines.
DeleteAnd they upgraded the not owned A320 leasing with the lessors in order not to have big problems in 2024.

ReplyDeleteI think that they planned to serve LJU this winter via SKP but Wizz Air announced the route before them and they knew that they have lost the game and didnt even bother launching it which is smart.

DeleteGreek islands are poorly connected during winter and Slovenians are interested in them only during warm period of the year. I seriously doubt Greeks are interested in Slovenia…

DeleteFrom subjective perspective (while flying this route) there were more Greeks than Slovenians on board. Slovenians still prefer agency charters to the islands, it seems. On top of that there were MANY passengers transfering from Emirates (Australian, US passports etc). A3 is codesharing with them on Dubai and New York routes and it seems they profit a lot from that, feeding their own routes.
