NEWS FLASH

Niš Constantine the Great Airport’s new passenger terminal is close to complete and will open for commercial use on July 1. The bulk of the construction is now taking place in front of the new facility, which includes the development of new access roads and a car park with the capacity for 580 vehicles. The new terminal building will have the capacity to handle 1.5 million passengers per year and up to six aircraft at the same time. It will boast ten check-in desks, self-check-in stations, eight passport control booths, four passenger gates and one VIP gate. Furthermore, it will feature one air bridge and a luggage sorting facility. New food and beverage outlets, as well as duty free shops will be added over an area 700 square metres. Initially it will be used for departing passengers with the old terminal to be used for handling arriving travellers. However, the airport plans to demolish the old terminal and construct a new building which will form a single functioning unit with the new terminal. During this week, representatives from operator Airports of Serbia held several meetings with airlines at the Routes Europe conference over the potential introduction of flights to Niš.

I’ve never seen such a small terminal in my life, i am talking about the old one. But the thing is that even though it is so small, it is very functional and everything runs smooth. In a distance of 10 meters i passed passport control and security check, and then i was at my gate. It was such a nice experience two years ago. Well done to the new terminal!

My impression too, but I flied from INI only twice. Much more convinient than, say, BNX or TIV which have similar old style facilities... Hope the convinience will not be diminihed by this development.

Sjajne vesti sa Niskog aerodroma. Za svaku pohvalu. Sa dogradnjom novog terminala na mestu starog i ostalih objekata, Niska vazdusna luka postace medu vodecim sekundarnim aerodromima Jugo Istocne Evrope.
Sa ocekivanjem dolaska loukostera i povecanjem novih linija. Uz objektivno ocekivanje da ce Aeroromi Srbije, iznova potencirati novu vladu Srbije za pocetak nastavka izgradnje projektovanih objekata na Aerodromu Morava Kraljevo. Ponikve takodje. Godine prolaze. Treca decenija vec uveliko je u toku. Od kada je pocela da se podize Aerodrom Morava. Bez zavrsetka projektovanog nema mogucnosti ozbiljnijeg saobracaja i mogucnosti rasta i razvoja. according to the plans that were published for BEG renovation it will be very green when they build the park infront of the airport. with the old aircraft from the museum in the middle for people to walk around. i hope they wont betray the plan cause it looks great and would make the airport very unique in europe.

BEG has a lot of trees around Borik and all around access roads. They placed a large parking instead of a forest just before the terminal which makes sense.

Well done, Nish deserves this. I've said it many times and I'll say it again. The airport has too few passengers and destinations, it can easily be like TSR, IAS. A tender should be organized for an airline to base at least two or three planes in the city and the route network to be expanded to at least 20 destinations. It is completely undeserved that INI has 400,000 passengers a year. I am not saying that there is little now or that nothing has been done at the airport in recent years, but still the potential is much greater.

An airline with the size and fleet of Air Montenegro could do wonders out of INI and potentially KVO. But no one could do any better against JU and it's PSO. Even FR and W6.

No, signage is not put correctly. This is the first year of architecture studies- how to put a sign on a building.A critique is not complaint, get used to it. It is not the most important thing in the world, but it does tell something. Good luck with the new facilities it will surely be better then the old one.

Is Cyrillic more common in South Serbia or it is both Latin and Cyrillic? Asking because in the façade you see larger script in Cyrillic than Latin. At least what is seen in the photos.

`No, it should not. That is not the correct way to write it in English. They wrote it correctly - Nis Constantine the Great Airport. Same way it is called Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport and not Paris Airport Charles de Gaulle. Same way it's called London Heathrow Airport and not London Airport Heathrow or London Airport Gatwick, or the same way it's not called New York Airport JFK.

21:53 Yes. INI airport really looks very good. BEG airport is also nice, but has a much more retro style. INI reminds of a typical newer airport in Europe. What is good is that the design is so minimalistic, yet so modern at the time. Something like IKEA brands.
