NEWS FLASH

Asia's largest carrier, China Southern Airlines, has scheduled and put tickets on sale for its new service between Guangzhou and Belgrade. As recently reported, flights will launch on September 25 and operate twice per week, on Wednesdays and Sundays, with its 297-seat Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft. The jet features 28 seats in business class with a 1-2-1 layout and the remaining 269 seats in economy. Business class passengers have aisle access and a full flat bed, while all seats across both cabins feature a personal entertainment screen, AC power outlets and USB outlets. WiFi connectivity is also available onboard, although access to websites is limited in line with Chinese internet regulations. Further flight details can be found here.

Excellent schedule connecting to most of their network with a 4 hours stopover. Prices on the point to point flight is the same as Air Serbia. At the moment fares to southeast Asia are slightly cheaper than with Qatar.

I wouldn't say it's the same as with JU.
Cheapest ticket with JU in January is just above 70 kRSD, whereas with CZ you cannot find it below 800 euros.

CZ charges €650 return with luggage on CAN-BEG. That's the cheapest promo fare.

Wifi is not Important at all . Most passengers do not use it or care for it . Especially with Chinese regulations there are bunch of strict regulations what you can search and accress.

Having flown recently with Chinese carrier (China Eastern to be precise), the wifi was free but mostly useless. You can't check emails on almost any platform. Although I did manage to read this site :)

Also to be aware of is IFE on Chinese airlines. There are two to three movies in English. Everything else is in Chinese.

@10:13 It's always good to have a choice, the unwritten rule is to offer wifi on long sectors. Even if the majority won't use it, it's not like the company will lose millions because of it.

Chinese carriers WIFI is based on Chinas internet policy, so Gmail and google isnt available, Hotmail should work as it did for me. Most Serbian website are available.

If I’ve got a wifi that is useless, does that mean it’s good to have it? To say they won’t lose millions for it is not really confirmed. They still have to pay for the access - whether you use it or not. So realistically they are offering something useless, when it could have been invested in some other area instead and been more beneficial to everyone.

Well then that's the lesson for serbia and serbian business. Develop home grown website, business, email and they be accessible on Chinese Internet while western passengers struggle

Currently flying from Adelaide, Australia to Doha then onto Belgrade costs approx AUD2300-2600 depending.
Will it be cheaper going the China route? I hope so! Or hopefully pressure Qatar and Emirates to be more competitive. I think China Southern is planning Adelaide in future

Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane are biggest routes out of Oz. Doubt you will get CZ sooner given how slow Cathay has been to come back and Qantas does not even fly international from there anymore.

Connections between Sydney/Melbourne and Belgrade are really bad. There is a waiting time of 4 hours in CAN to Sydney/Melbourne and then 8 hours in CAN on the way back to BEG from SYD and 17 hours on the way back from Melbourne. Qatar offers 1.5 hours transit each way and the price with China Southern is more expensive. This is not competitive for Australian travel at all.
