NEWS FLASH
Luxair will discontinue its seasonal flights between Luxembourg and Belgrade. Last week the carrier closed reservations between the two cities. The airline planned to serve the route this summer twice per week from July 5 until August 30 with its Dash 8 Q400 turboprop aircraft. It introduced operations to the Serbian capital in 2021 on a year-round basis but has since consistently reduced operations on the route and downgraded flights to seasonal. This summer, Luxair will continue to serve Ljubljana, Tivat, Dubrovnik, Zadar and Brač in the former Yugoslavia. The airline had also previously maintained operations to Podgorica and Split, both of which have been discontinued.

ReplyDeleteLoads were fine in high season, problem is that no one likes to spend 02H10 minutes in a turboprop aircraft to be honest, so people were taking connections via MUC or FRA.
DeleteAlso Luxair is very much dependant on seasonal traffic, so if a plane isn't near 100% in loads they can utilise it on another route better

DeleteSun d'Or is not seasonal but year round. In fact this winter they operate 3 weekly flights which is more than they had in summer (2 weekly). Also Sun Express adds second destination this summer.

ReplyDeleteGood riddance. That 2-3 hour flight in a tiny box is painful. If they want to come back they should be forced to pay extra. If LFs were high then JU can simply fly there and use a better aircraft, thanks for the extra market share. From what I hear, the situation in Lux is not great, with unions preparing for a strike.

DeleteNot a big loss. And the Q400 is actually a very comfortable plane. So it has nothing to do with the two hours flight time.

ReplyDeleteLoses "ANOTHER" destination. It only lost Riga and is adding this year so far another 5. More than the likes of ZAG, PRN etc. Stop the drama.
